Lyrics for Tim I Wish You Were Born a Girl as interpreted by gleebs

Tim I Wish You Were Born a Girl Lyrics
Tim, wish you were born a girl
So I could've been your boyfriend
I know it's not possible now
I just never met a girl I like half as much as you

And we could lay around in bed, stay there all day
Or at least until the afternoon
And I could make you spaghetti with tomato sauce
With just a touch of oregano and a parsley stem

And then when you got sick
I could take the day off work
I could've made you chicken soup
And we could watch soap operas
Oh, those TV dramas!
I could catch your cold
And you could take care of me

If I could've met you at school, or met you at work
It would have changed everything
Those years of losing, confusion and insecurity
They would have been shared
They would have been easier

Tim, wish you were born a girl
So I could've been your fiancé
I'm not saying you can't be all these things for me
But it's just not the same because you're a man
And so am I

for me it's a tie between "Let's Do Everything..." and "Rose Robert." I know they're from the same album, but it's the only one i own.

It's a wonderfully sweet and endearing song...I like that Kevin Barnes isn't afraid to sing about such things...when two guys are very close in real life, things that are said by this song usually go UNSAID and I think it's beautiful to get them all out there. Everything this band does is surreal magic and I love 'em, they are worlds above a lot of music out there today...

I love this song. "And I could make you spaghetti with tomato sauce with just a touch of oregano and a parsley stem." On of the best deliveries of a line, ever. This is a great song to play for people who don't understand the indie scene, because it messes with their heads, and goddamn do i love doing that.

Love this song, it's so silly, and a great song to annoy all the Tims of the world with by singing it to them constantly! I love the line about spaghetti especially because it's endearing how he knows just the way he likes it, "with just a touch of oregan and a parsley stem". Says alot about a bestfriendship and how you just know everything about each other, even the trivial things.

this is one of those songs that i can't just listen to once. when it comes on, i wind up playing it on repeat for at least 20 minutes...probably 1) because it's adorable, and 2) it reminds me of someone and i like the memories it brings up.

Oh wow, such a cute story. Although I've never experienced anything like this, I can relate I guess, by putting myself in the guy that likes Tim's shoes.

awesome song, agreed with Snevik cause it is so fun to play it for ppls who are not used to this kind of music and watch them go "What is that?" but i agree with all the other comments. it is a such a good song, my favorite by OM and it also is a good testament of true friendship

I know Kevin would not be afraid to admit it if he were gay, but I bet this is a good song for those people that secretly pine after their best friends but are too afraid to say anything

i think of montreal sings very funky songs that's not all sorts of the ordinary "so in love" or "falling outta love but i miss you or you suck" or "i like soandso but she wont return it" sorta stuff which is really really cool

no, kevin barnes is not gay. he is married to a woman named nina. i love this song. i think it's beautiful that he is comfortable enough with his sexuality to write such a cute (and funny) song about a good friend.

when i was in high school i heard this song and i emailed kevin to ask him if he was gay because i was completely in love with him over this song. his reply was yes, he is indeed very happy.

this song meant so much to me then, and it still does now that i'm listening to it years after not having heard it. i wish they never went electric, the innocence of their earlier sound is lost.

this almost reminds me of a tenacious D song.
except, a lot less vulgar.
and more mellow.

but the irony of the whole thing cracks me up. i love this song.
second only to wraith pinned to the mist.
