She caught the melting sky
It burned but still the winter passes by and by
To the other side

A slow parade of wind
That blows through trees
That wilted with the season's children

Are we saved by the words of bastard saints
Do we live in fear or faith
Tell me now who's behind the rain

A maze of tangled grace
The symptoms of "for real" are crumbling from embrace
But still we chase the shadows of belief
And new religion clouds our visions of the roots of our souls

Are we ashamed of our own fate
Or play the fool for our own sake
Tell me who's behind the rain

What do we need where do we go
When we get where we don't know
Why should we doubt the virgin white of fallen snow
When faith's our shelter from the cold

Quicksand Jesus I'm so far away without you

Quicksand Jesus I need you
Quicksand Jesus I believe you
Quicksand Jesus I'm so far away

General Comment:Or, it could possibly be talking about the struggle to keep the blind faith with the Religion... aka "Quicksand Jesus". The question comes up "Are we living in Fear or Faith?" Basically the social normality of society is to trust in this religion and blindly follow it, but everything is convincing him otherwise, the fact that life is so negative, "Who is behind the rain?" (who is causing all of this torment?) And how we are afraid of our fate which is why we hide behind religion to comfort ourselves that we will go to heaven... we are afraid of Not Knowing.. we have to have the comfort of knowing what will happen. We are playing the fools by following something blindly without questioning for our own sake of making ourselves comfortable and sane.
Whats wrong with going through life not knowing? Whats wrong with not following something we don't trust or believe. We don't NEED to believe anything... Quicksand Jesus, brings me down.. (aka Quicksand)

General Comment:he's using quicksand as a metaphore to say that people are slowly sinking away from Jesus, just kinda one of those songs in saying how fucked the world is

General Comment:Some of my favorite lyrics of all time:
Are we saved by the words of bastard saints? Do we live in fear or faith?
    ...
Are we ashamed of our own fate?
Or play the fool for our own sake?
Tell me who's behind the rain.

General Comment:Dave 'Snake' Sabo of Skid Row: "'Quicksand Jesus' is about the bullshit said via the media, everything seems to be very hypocritical, saying one thing and doing another."

General Comment:As far as I can tell, this song is about struggling with doubt about Jesus. Every Christian has done it, and doubt is not labeled in the Bible as sin. Even Jesus doubted, because he was fully human as well as fully God. He was, however, sinless. Doubt doesn't become sin until it's acted upon. Anyway, that's my two cents on the song.
