Lyrics for California as interpreted by ChErRyCoLa

California Lyrics
We've been on the run
Driving in the sun
Looking out for number one
California, here we come
Right back where we started from

Well, hustlers grab your guns
The shadow weighs a ton
Driving down the 101
California, here we come
Right back where we started from

California
Here we come

On the stereo
Listen as we go
Nothing's gonna stop me now
California, here we come
Right back where we started from

Pedal to the floor
Thinking of the roar
Gotta get us to the show
California, here we come
Right back where we started from

California
Here we come

California
California
Here we come
Ohhh

California
California
Here we come

California
California
Here we come

California
California
Here we come

California
California
Here we come

If you want to look at it deeply, its about a journey of the band to this Promise Land, this excitement, sorta patriotic. but if u dont then its a song with a guy with strong lungs

It's not only catchy, but the lead singer is Jason Schwartzman, star of the movie "Rushmore"!

I hate name-droppers. If you have to do it, at least get his position RIGHT, for christ's sake. Anyway. This abnd has been around for awhile you should check out their older songs especially.

I love this song, but I've always hated California. It's just so depressing there. Not saying Utah's better, just...

jason schwartzman is also in the movie slackers. the guest cd is much better than phantom planet is missing, although both are radical.

wow there is so much more to this that a guy just bein homesick. i mean this is possible, but doesn't anyone think its strange how people just idolize california. Like "kali" she wants to come to california. Why is california so cool? There definitely is a movie-culture vibe here that I really can't quite explain or put into words exactly. I would love it if someone else here could try and explain what the deal is with everyone loving California so much, its so strange.........i just don't get it.

If you look at this song, it can be about going home to california. But if you look at it deeper, it is about some kind of promised land. I lived in Cali for a little over a year, and I had mixed emotions living there. Sometimes I loved it a sometimes I hated it.

There is one thing that everyone is missing about this song. If you don't notice, there is a very depressed under tone to the entire thing. This song is talking about how horrible Hollywood is, considering that everyone that thinks of California thinks of Stardum. This song is about the fact that even though they don't like California, they still can't break free. "Right back where we started From."
