Lyrics for Dig Up Her Bones as interpreted by HoldURBreath

Dig Up Her Bones Lyrics
Anything is what she is
Anywhere is where she's from
Anything is what she'll be
Anything as long as it's mine
And the door, it opens, is the way back in
Or is it the way back out

Anyplace is where she'll be
Anyplace, she'll see you from
Lies and secrets become your world
Anytime, anywhere, she takes me away
And death climbs up the steps one by one
To give you the rose
That's been burnt by her son

Point me to the sky above
I can get there on my own
Walk me to the graveyard
Dig up her bones

I have seen the demon's face
I have heard of her death place
I fall down on my knees in praise of the
Horrible things that took her away

And death climbs up the steps one by one
To give you the rose
That's been burnt by her son

Point me to the sky above
I can get there on my own
Walk me to the graveyard
Dig up her bones
Point me to the sky above
I can get there on my own
Walk me to the graveyard
Dig up her bones
Bones

well guys, seems everyone is saying how if Glenn, sang this song, it will be good, thing is, resurrected Misfits dont sound much like old misfits, there like a new band with an old name for the band, i personally like Michale Graves. Danzig HAS AND HAD the dark voice that gave it its taste, but Graves has a MYSTERY in his voice, which gives him his taste, 2 different, but as badass, there badass in there own way, ive been listening to GOTHAM RD, GRAVES, and MICHALE GRAVES w/ DAMIEN ECHOLS(from the WM3) and i have to say, his going his own way, might not be as successful, but his doing his MYSTERY. thats just my point of view guys, and yes old misfits will always be the shit, thing is resurrected misfits took in different, and thats good...GRAVES AND DANZIG ARE SERIOUSLY BADASS IN THERE OWN WAY!!!

does any one agree or disagree???

my friend told me that he sings about his dead wife that died in cancer or something, is that right?

I love this song!!! It doesn't matter who sings it I suppose but the way Graves sings this in comparison to how he sounds on any other song is just amazing...such a creepy vibe and haunting vibe. Still, I guess the meaning of this song is a little obvious...a dark longing for the return of a deceased loved on, and feeling unable to go to Heaven without them.

I think this is sort of a song that can be taking in a few ways; but Personally, and the way its relatable to me; is its about Necrophelia.

"Anythign is what she is; etc"
Is saying that after digging up a corpse; you dont know about them so its really a mysterious thing, and they could be anything.

Thats what I think makes the most sense; cause its very true.

No... I disagree Oddity... in the most nicest way...
it still makes no sense...

the other two chours lines fit with your interpretation.
but the first two do not...
I'll post another comment with my interpretation
,once I think about the lyrics.

I may be way wrong with this, but possibly, these lyrics were written for a son's dead mother... considering,it is how most of you say... with not much metaphors? I am not a big fan of misfits,I only like this song,so I shall take your word for it...anyhow.

"Anything is what she is
Anywhere is where she's from
Anything is what she'll be
Anything as long as it's mine"

perhaps,by the loss of his mother, the person searches her image in things around him, missing her

"Anyplace is where she'll be
Anyplace, she'll see you from"

perhaps the thoughts on where she is now? hoping she still watches over him.

"Point me to the sky above
I can get there on my own
Walk me to the graveyard
Dig up her bones"

first two lines indicate a path,as he can get there without anyone's help, but not knowing which way the path is,this is metaphorical for sure.and about what path,to a graveyard, perhaps the path to dead memories, and something unfinished about to be taken care of.

"I have seen the demon's face
I have heard of her death place
I fall down on my knees in praise of the
Horrible things that took her away"

the line "I have heard of her death place" may indicate that he was not present when it happened, that he was away for a longer while, when he found out it broke him.

again,I am probably way wrong,do not take my word for it...

Glenn or no Glenn, I still enjoy the music.
It's more about the lyrics and meanings than who is singing them.

both misfits are awesome. glenn's songs were one that you could really get into, while the songs with graves have little bit more of an upbeat sound with more creative lyrics. they're both great.

i like the fact that jerry stuck to the original idea that had been conceived and didnt try to change it.
even though it isn't the same without danzig, they still kept it in the same direction.

im rarely dissapointed when i listen to theyre music, never gets old to me =]) i am a fiend for sure!

So I love how you all turned a discussion about a great song into a total shit fest! Listen I agree Danzig is talented and and a great singer and it is a shame he no longer a part of such a great band. But this song is beautiful and it is very deep if you can't appreciate then you don't have to listen. I love the Misfits regardless of the line up.
