Anything is what she is
Anywhere is where she's from
Anything is what she'll be
Anything as long as it's mine
And the door, it opens, is the way back in
Or is it the way back out

Anyplace is where she'll be
Anyplace, she'll see you from
Lies and secrets become your world
Anytime, anywhere, she takes me away
And death climbs up the steps one by one
To give you the rose
That's been burnt by her son

Point me to the sky above
I can get there on my own
Walk me to the graveyard
Dig up her bones

I have seen the demon's face
I have heard of her death place
I fall down on my knees in praise of the
Horrible things that took her away

And death climbs up the steps one by one
To give you the rose
That's been burnt by her son

Point me to the sky above
I can get there on my own
Walk me to the graveyard
Dig up her bones
Point me to the sky above
I can get there on my own
Walk me to the graveyard
Dig up her bones
Bones

My Interpretation:I have 2 interpretations of this song, the literal, and the metaphorical.

    The literal:
The female he is singing of is some kind of demon that can become whatever you desire in order to seduce you. She essentially makes your dreams come true. However, this isn't really a good thing, and you become addicted to her, and lose control. By the time you realize the trap you are in, it is almost impossible to escape, and you have to do some kind of bizarre ritual involving digging up her bones to get rid of her. Once you do this, and dig up her bones, "horrible things" take her away.

Anything, anyplace, anywhere, lies and secrets, etc. are all about how she can be whatever you desire, and that the truth means nothing to her. In the middle of this, it mentions a door as a way in, because he wants to be with her, but then he asks "or is it a way back out?" because a part of him knows he needs to escape her clutches.

At one point he calls her a demon, and knows of her "death's place". At this point, he knows her needs her out of his life, and he knows of this weird ritual he needs to do to get rid of her, digging up her bones. The details of the ritual are vague.

In the chorus, he is asking for strength and guidance to carry out the ritual to banish her back to hell.

    The metaphorical:

He is in a relationship with a lying, destructive woman that he is addicted to. A part of him wants to be with her, a part of him knows he needs out of the relationship. All of the Anythings, anywheres, etc, are about how deceptive she is, and how he gets tangled up in it, and even enjoys it.

The bizarre ritual involving herculean effort is about the hard part of breaking up with someone. No matter how bad the relationship is, he's still addicted.

General Comment:So I love how you all turned a discussion about a great song into a total shit fest! Listen I agree Danzig is talented and and a great singer and it is a shame he no longer a part of such a great band. But this song is beautiful and it is very deep if you can't appreciate then you don't have to listen. I love the Misfits regardless of the line up.

General Comment:i like the fact that jerry stuck to the original idea that had been conceived and didnt try to change it.
even though it isn't the same without danzig, they still kept it in the same direction.

General Comment:both misfits are awesome. glenn's songs were one that you could really get into, while the songs with graves have little bit more of an upbeat sound with more creative lyrics. they're both great.

General Comment:Glenn or no Glenn, I still enjoy the music.
It's more about the lyrics and meanings than who is singing them.

General Comment:I may be way wrong with this, but possibly, these lyrics were written for a son's dead mother... considering,it is how most of you say... with not much metaphors? I am not a big fan of misfits,I only like this song,so I shall take your word for it...anyhow.

    "Anything is what she is
    Anywhere is where she's from
    Anything is what she'll be
Anything as long as it's mine"

perhaps,by the loss of his mother, the person searches her image in things around him, missing her

    "Anyplace is where she'll be
    Anyplace, she'll see you from"

perhaps the thoughts on where she is now? hoping she still watches over him.

"Point me to the sky above
I can get there on my own
    Walk me to the graveyard
    Dig up her bones"

first two lines indicate a path,as he can get there without anyone's help, but not knowing which way the path is,this is metaphorical for sure.and about what path,to a graveyard, perhaps the path to dead memories, and something unfinished about to be taken care of.

"I have seen the demon's face
I have heard of her death place
I fall down on my knees in praise of the
Horrible things that took her away"

the line "I have heard of her death place" may indicate that he was not present when it happened, that he was away for a longer while, when he found out it broke him.

again,I am probably way wrong,do not take my word for it...

General Comment:I think this is sort of a song that can be taking in a few ways; but Personally, and the way its relatable to me; is its about Necrophelia.

"Anythign is what she is; etc"
Is saying that after digging up a corpse; you dont know about them so its really a mysterious thing, and they could be anything.

Thats what I think makes the most sense; cause its very true.

General Comment:I love this song!!! It doesn't matter who sings it I suppose but the way Graves sings this in comparison to how he sounds on any other song is just amazing...such a creepy vibe and haunting vibe. Still, I guess the meaning of this song is a little obvious...a dark longing for the return of a deceased loved on, and feeling unable to go to Heaven without them.
