There's no crazy scientist or alien waving his hand and sending any sort of army of zombies or anything. The mad scientist in the movie isn't trying to destroy humanity, either.
It's about the movie. Could have some kind of secondary message about politics.

These zombies are wallowing in the past, trying to keep people mired in self loathing for acts they had nothing to do with, such as slavery or American Indian treatment.

lol I can relate I have rented some movies based on Misfits songs to try to put them into context and they have all sucked. They liked some weird movies.
