The first time I died
Was in the arms of good friends of mine.
They kiss me with tears.
They hadn't been near me for years.
Say, why do it now
When I won't be around, I'm going out?

"We needed you
To love us too.
We wait for your move."

Only tragedy allows the release
Of love and grief never normally seen.
I didn't want to let them see me weep,
I didn't want to let them see me weak,
But I know I have shown
That I stand at the gates alone.

"I needed you
To love me too.
I wait for your move."

All the love, all the love,
All the love we should have given.
All the love, all the love,
All the love you could have given.
All the love, all the love,
All the love
("Run for the hills")

The next time I dedicate
My life's work to the friends I make,
I give them what they want to hear.
They think I'm up to something weird
And up rears the head of fear in me.
So now when they ring
I get my machine to let them in.

"I needed you
To love me too.
I wait for your move."

All the love, all the love,
All the love you should have given.
All the love, all the love,
All the love we could have given.
All the love, all the love,
All the love

"Take care, tootle-ooh."
"Bye bye."
"Bye, so long now."
"Bye!"
"Later."
"Bye!"
"Cheerio."
"Bye!"
"Bye bye."
"Bye."
"Stay healthy."
"Bye-ee!"
"Bye."
"Cheers."
"See ya, love."
"Bye!"
"Good bye."
"I'll see ya, love."
"Good night."
"We needed you
To love us too.
We wait for your move."

General Comment:To me this song appears like it's about a girl, who killed herself because of her problems, that she couldn't share with friends, since she had thought she couldn't help them with their problems...

General Comment:Yet another MASTERPIECE. I think this song is all about how people give lip-service to being concerned, connected and loving to their friends, but they really only show up when there is some sort of tragedy or drama that they can insert themselves into, for the real purpose of making themselves feel better, rather than offering any kind of real and consistent connection to those they claim to love. Kate realizes this and says from now on she will only give of herself what they expect, and keep the real her to herself, letting her answering machine deal with them instead of actually getting dragged into their superficial relationships again.

General Comment:Yeah, I pretty much agree; this song's about thanking your friends for being there, reminding them you love them every chance you can...because so many people wait until tragedies bring them together.

We're all waiting for each other to make the first move. And we're not going to get anywhere if nobody has the courage to make that move!

Amazing song...but Kate is simply magnificent, of course.

General Comment:I also think it's about appreciating the people around you while they're where, because they won't always be. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in petty squabbles that we fail to appreciate that what everyone really wants is to be loved and appreciated. They as much as you.

General Comment:Surprisingly no one can interpret the strange works of our Ms.Bush. I'll give it a shot. This song depresses me like no other. I've felt this was about friendship and betrayal. I've thought that maybe this is some personal statement that Kate is making about her friends and relations in past. They were never there until the last minute and true friends/lovers would develop a relationship on a 2 way street regardless of what you're going through. Let's not judge on the surface, inside every person there is someone you do not know and by knowing your friends you know yourself better.

Also, this sounds like a plea for help and understanding in relationships. That's what I think anyway.
