Got some action on the other side
Loose teeth in my head
New programs are coming in
So rise and take your oath
I wish we could get away
Drink wine and screw
I knew someone else before
Looked alot like you

[chorus:]
And they're gone
I'm gone
In space

I been programed as I said before
Technology
Just rollin, wheezin and breathin
Eyeballs and teeth
Words are weightless here on earth because they're free
You knew someone else before
Looked alot like me

[repeat chorus 2x]

Song Meaning:Here is the video that user KDZ said about: youtube.com/…

As you can see, Josh said the idea for lyrics came from that dream.

General Comment:what about this: everyone is the same as anyone else, so we are all the same. no matter what we do we are programed to out own reality?

General Comment:I think it's about depression, bipolar disorder or that kind of mental illness. (loose teeth in my head)

The "new programs", the "technology" and the "programing" is all about medication.

    I knew someone else before
    Looked alot like you /
    You knew someone else before
    Looked alot like me

Well, here it is. The same thing said twice, but alternating "YOU for I" and "ME for YOU". When he's maniac or down, he's not the same person.

    "Just rollin, wheezin and breathin"
Well, when you're on downers, anxyolitics and shit like that, everything is FINE, but not great. Nothing hurt, nothing can move you... You're just there, breathing and being ok. It sucks, I know.

General Comment:These are some interesting theories.

I don't know if it factors into the meaning, but in an interview that can be found on Youtube, circa 1998, Homme explains this song is based off a dream he had.

In it, he and the rest of the world are walking on a sidewalk. Then they all start floating away into space, along with him. They continue to get farther and farther apart until Homme can't see them anymore, and it's just him, all alone in space.

The people then turn into stars, and that's how the stars get in the sky. Then they all start to come back towards the sidewalk, everyone coming back down. But they remain stars.

Everything gets brighter and brighter until everything is white.

Freaking damn dream, I wonder how it factors into the meaning, if at all?

A try to explain yourself. looking at yourself from a blank space. Forgotten all that was known before. questions like how do I exist? who was myself before I ended up here?
maybe talking to yourself or to a sober person
    "I knew someone else before
    Looked alot like you"
you know there was something in the past but you just cant remember any facts so you give your existence own facts and reasons how to "work". you program yourself totally new in this moment.
    forgetting. accepting. rebuilding. understanding.
its hard not to loose control on this side of "the sidewalk" because everything seems so senseless and unexplainable in the first view. And you seem to be all alone because you forgot yourself and all the other humans you knew.
    "And they're gone
    I'm gone
    In space"
but if you get some clear thoughts, they seem like software for your brain and you realize everything is so simple and clear if you just open your eyes and accept to forget what you were before.
"words are weightless here on earth because they're free" words no longer have expression because they just cant describe what you created and realized now. You probably silence.
thats why its hard to remember when your back to sober.
Its all about the feelings a human can have..
    on the other side.

    peace

General Comment:A song about drugs. The programs are drugs, available for everyone who wants them. Apparently it’s changing people who takes them and programs them into 'just rollin’ weezin’ and breathing beings'. Josh knows it, he’s changed too, still he doesn’t seem to care, ending the song with going into space again. The endless robotic instrumental that follows symbolises the feeling; the drugs turns him into a repetitive robot.
It’s the easiest (and for him the safest) thing to do, getting some action on the other side and escaping problems of daily live for a moment. It’s leaving the road for a while and start walking on the sidewalks.

General Comment:I really like the song.. although it wasn't one i liked immediately. I love the rhythm. I have absolutely no clue.. not even the slightest clue.. as to what he is singing about. I really don't know about the earlier theories.. but i don't have anything better to add.

General Comment:I think it is about humans wanting to escape from this planet (earth) and be free to do thingswithout a well structured government.

    Love the song!
