Wipe the make-up from your face
Tie your hair and gently fall from grace
Until I come again
Take the disaffected life
Men who ran the company ran your life
You could have been his wife

I want to love you but my hands are tied
I want to stay here but I've been denied
Let's watch the clock until the morning sun does rise

Wipe the sweat from off your brow
All that you believe is here and now
You could have had more doubt

Wipe the shadow from your eyes
Rest your daughter while your mother cries
You could have let him fly

I want to hold you but my hands are tied
I want to stay here but I've been denied
I want to lie here til we've killed this bitter doubt

I want to hold you but my hands are tied
I want to stay here but I've been denied
Let's watch the clock until the morning sun does rise

I want to hold you but my hands are tied
I want to sleep here but I've been denied
I want to stay here til we've killed this bitter doubt

I want to hold you but my hands are tied
I want to sleep here but I've been denied
Let's watch the clock until the morning sun comes out

My Interpretation:From the verses I do get the impression the woman is cheating on her husband with another man and feels guilty about it. Although I sort of doubt that because, to me, it doesn't connect well with the chorus. Of course it could be a narrative about two characters.

"I wanna hold you but my hands are tied
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
I wanna lie here 'til we've killed this bitter doubt

I wanna hold you but my hands are tied
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
Lets watch the clock until the morning sun does rise "

To me it does sound like this is a person who finds it hard to open up and actually express the love that they feel. So instead of making a move (because he can't let himself) he just wants to stay with the person, at least to be in them with some way.

    I don't know. That's the impression I get.

General Comment:The first time I heard this song, I thought that he wanted to be with a girl he loved but he'd been denied (because she didn't love him back). But then I heard it many more times and paid attention to the lyrics and now that theory doens't really make sense.
Either way, its a great song- all songs by Starsailor are.

General Comment:I notice every single comment so far has been left by a girl. I wonder if these sort of lyrics tend to appeal to them some?
    I like 'em, anyway.

General Comment:I always seemed to hear this song when I could totally relate it to my life. There would always be a guy that I'd want to date, but couldn't for whatever reason. I think this song is basically that, times ten (since it is love). I'm thinking the woman he loves is slightly being forced to be with her boss or someone like that. Also, with that boss-figure around, the narrator is unable to "stay here" because he's "been denied."

General Comment:I love the line "Wipe the make-up from your face
Tie your hair and gently fall from grace" it's such a lovely line. I'm not too sure what this song's about. I think it may be about the whole wanting to just BE with the person you love and forget you have a life you still have to portray. I know because I can relate to it. I wish me and my boyfriend could just dissapear together, it'd be so wonderful not having to worry about anything but each other:)

General Comment:I think it is awesomeness on a plate! It's so emotive and yet fairly understated, the eay the chorus explodes blows me away! I dunno about meaning, i think its about cheating on your best mate by being with his girl friend. The whole ,"gently fall form grace thing gave me that", but then I think the guy realises it can never happen becuase of the complexity of it all, wants to love this girl, but can't because of the history! *sigh*

General Comment:I thought this song was about adultry, to be honest. It sounds like the women who the lyricist was with is in a relationship, be it married or whatever. "Rest your daughter while your mother cries" could be a referrence to 1) the child the woman has had in her "official" relationship and 2) the mother weeping because she knows that HER daughter is cheating on her husband. "I wanna love you but my hands are tied" perhaps a reference to the fact that he cannot stay with her because she has her "official" life.. Also, maybe his "hands are tied" because of his guilt? I admit, it doesnt QUITE fit but thats what I assumed this song was about..

General Comment:LOVE IS HERE is amazing, but incredibly depressing. i have a different perception of this song. "i wanna love you but my hands are tied, i wanna stay here but i've been denied" reminds me of a person who is in love with someone, but they can't be with them emotionally. i had a boyfriend who had a serious mental problem and it made it impossibly for us to be together despite our love. thats my take on it.
