Lyrics for Fool as interpreted by daniela_m_a

Fool Lyrics
SEEMS MY OWN ARROGANCE HAS KNOCKED ME OFF MY FEET AGAIN
WHEN YOU KNOW I'M CRAWLING TO YOU AS FAST AS I CAN
FIRST TEACH ME TO WALK
AND THEN I'LL LEARN TO DANCE FOR YOU
LIKE AN HONEST CLUMSY CLOWN
TRIPPING ALONG THE WAY

CAUSE I AM REACHING FOR YOU
BUT MY ARMS AREN'T LONG ENOUGH
AND I AM RUNNING TO YOU
IF I COULD GO A LITTLE FASTER
AND I AM CRYING TO YOU
BUT I CAN'T HEAR MY OWN VOICE
AND I AM WAITING FOR YOU
AND TRYING NOT TO FALL ASLEEP NOW

(CHORUS)
CAUSE I AM CLUMSILY DANCING AWAY THIS FEAR
I AM STUMBLING CLOSER TO YOU AND I AM
TUMBLING OVER MY PRIDE
I WILL BE A FOOL FOR YOU

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING AS YOU LOOK DOWN ON ME
ARE YOU FRUSTRATED WITH MY INCONSISTENCY
OR INTRIGUED THAT I CAN FIND THE WILL TO GET BACK UP OR
MAYBE ALL OF THIS IS SIMPLY AMUSING

CAUSE I AM REACHING FOR YOU
BUT MY ARMS AREN'T LONG ENOUGH
AND I AM RUNNING TO YOU
IF I COULD GO A LITTLE FASTER
AND I AM CRYING TO YOU
BUT I CAN'T HEAR MY OWN VOICE
AND I AM WAITING FOR YOU
AND TRYING NOT TO FALL ASLEEP NOW

first of all i wanna say that i LOVE lifehouse and this song.. for me it expresses a strong feeling for someone after messing it up at the first chance and to be willing to do anything to make it up and be with this special person.

i love this song. it kind of seems like this is a song about a girl playing games with him. he's willing to do everything she says, and yet she still looks down on him. "what are you thinking as you look down on me? are you frustrated with my inconsistancy or intruiged that i can find the will to get back up? or maybe all of this is simply amusing?" it seems like she is trying to break him down, and he has to learn how to do everything over again. "first teach me to walk and then i'll learn to dance for you." also, he's seems like he's saying that he's been waiting a long time for her. "i am waiting for you. trying not to fall asleep now." i really do like this song though. it's better if you don't think of it like i do, lol. i really like to think of it as a love song. :0) *ashley*

this used to be me and my girlfirend's song. to us the bridge meant that we are trying to be with each other but things are getting in the way. and the chorus meant to us that we are both new to a serious and loving relationship so we are trying not to screw up.

I think this song is about God, but it could be about another relationship also. It's about how you stumble in your walk with God, how you screw up and cannot be what you want to be. But how that you know you have to get up, that you want to be closer to God, but are so unperfect that you keep falling. I think about a moth with it's wings broken trying desperately to get towards the flame. That may not make sense to anyone, but God is perfect and we are moths with broken wings. Don't you love symbolism? I Do.

I would say the vast majority, if not all of Jason's songs are inspired by God.

"WHAT ARE YOU THINKING AS YOU LOOK DOWN ON ME" - That line sums up everything I believe Jason to be thinking when he writes, or pretty much does anything.

What have you reached for that was just out of reach? What was it that you raced after but was too fast to catch? I bet you've chased a guy or a girl like that. How about deeper in your life? What seems so out of reach that many people don't even bother to try and catch it? Meaning. Something Bigger. That's what he's writing about here.

He's writing about God, and how he's reaching, chasing, crying, waiting to finally get to God. He wants to have God in his life, but he's so clumsy... But he will try. Through all the questions he has, he'll strive to be with God. He knows he cannot do it on his own, so he asks God for help as he goes toward him, even making a fool of himself on the way.

Ever feel lost like that when you're searching your life? Don't you ever feel that helplessness when you think about that great big God out there, watching you? Ever chase Him and seem to not be able to do it right? Well keep doing it--He doesn't mind at all how much of a fool you make out of yourself when you're doing it. I will be a fool for You.

For me, this song may sometimes be about the God above, or about a relationship with someone you follow through you entire life, waiting for her to love you back. It means a lot of things for me, and I think it should mean a lot of things to other people too :)

its about being a dumb person .. to humble yourself being a fool can be offensive, but when u look on the bright side you have nothing to lose or prove

I know this song is probably about god, but when i first heard it the impression i got was that it was the point of view of an infant towards their parents. it just stirs that imagery to me. Think about it - I'm crawling to you, teach me to walk, reaching for you but arms not long enough, trying not to fall asleep etc even though i know this isnt what the song was written to mean i will always see it like this.

ok, i've listened to most lifehouse songs and they're not all about god. yah they're religious before they became an official band, but they turned to alternative afterward, signing into a record deal. but, seriously, after listening to most of their songs, they're all NOT ABOUT GOD. some of the songs are REALLY obvious that they're to love/or a girl... and this song, it strikes me of the imagery of a baby/infant and his/her parents too. this song is about problems at home, and trying to make your parents proud of you, though they never seem to be proud... etc. basically its a sad song, but trust me, this isn't about god. its like the relationship between parent and child, etc, and how the child struggles. i think it's symbolizing a typical teen today, where there's the indescribable and misunderstood bond between parents and their children.
