    Song Meaning:The song is about a personal experience Rivers Cuomo (Lead Singer) had when he attended Harvard between recording the Blue Album and Pinkerton. He fell in love with a girl in his class and did not realize that the Pink Triangle patch she had on her sleeve was a symbol for lesbianism. He is simply talking about how he made plans on dating and possibly settling down with her until he realized she was gay.

    Memory:Lol this song was basically my life. I broke up with this girl because I wasn't feeling it after I fell for this girl I saw around school. Asked her for her number like twice she said no both times. I found out from a few friends she was a lesbian. XD "I'm dumb she's a lesbian"

    My Interpretation:"But when I start to feel that pull
    Turns out I just pulled myself"

    He starts to think that she's coming onto him, or that they have some kind of chemistry, but in the end it's not there, it's just a subconscious invention of his. But with "pulled myself" I just think of him jacking it. When he starts to feel the pull, she won't do anything for him, so he's got to pull at himself. Equivocation is so my favorite. Go Rivers.

    General Comment:I love this song. I song it all the time, and people give me weird looks. It doesn't help that I'm a girl so it wouldn't make as much sense.

    General Comment:i love the hint just before the chorus where he says 'were i the last girl on earth'. it alludes to the fact that she is a lesbian and he'd have to be a girl for her to consider him no?
