My girl's got a big mouth
With which she blabbers a lot
She laughs at most everything
Whether it's funny or not
And if you see her
Tell her it's over now

[Chorus]
I want a girl who will laugh for no one else
When I'm away she puts her makeup on the shelf
When I'm away she never leaves the house
I want a girl who laughs for no one else

My girl's got eyeballs
In the back of her head
She looks around and around
You know it makes me sad to see her like that
Please don't believe her, she says that for anyone
And if you see her
Tell her its hey hey hey hey

[Chorus]

And if you see her
Tell her it's over now
And if you watch her go
Watch her, watch her, watch her, watch her!

[Chorus]

General Comment:I love this song (as if there's a Weezer song I don't love). Something that I love about music, literature, and poetry is that it is open to our own personal takes on it and what it means to us.

This song maddeningly reminds me of my ex-fiance. He was a controlling imbecile and a total douchebag, for lack of a better word. He was also abusive, which I doubt is the case with Rivers. I have always had a complete lack of self-esteem and a surplus of self-loathing. My ex-fiance could smell that on me and decided to prey on it. He told me how to dress, apply makeup, and fix my hair. I had to wear my glasses instead of contacts, pull my hair back instead of wear it down, and never wear skirts. He wanted me to look as unattractive as possible. He didn't like me talking to guys no matter what. I wasn't allowed to display even a single picture of my best friend who also happened to be my boyfriend for four years before he passed away suddenly.

The only difference here is that I never looked at other men. I never cared. I didn't feel that anyone cared to look at me, so why look around. All in all, it's jealousy. Plain and simple. The line that really proves this to me is "when I'm away she puts her makeup on the shelf / when I'm away she never leaves the house". It's all about him and never about her. Her makeup is to catch me or make him happy. To him, it has nothing to do with her self-image and confidence. And she should sit at home and pine for him until he returns - as if he would do that for her, which is undoubtedly not the case.

I imagine this song is all hyperbole, but in my case it's even understated. I love it. I love even more his cowardice shown in "and if you see her tell her it's over now". He can't even do it himself. All of his self-worth is wrapped up in her so much so that he can't even leave her or he'll be crushed.

General Comment:This song goes along with "The World Has Turned And Left Me Here". In my opinion, he is exaggerating his jealous attitude about his girlfriend, but with some truth in it. He probably really did want her to show more personal affections to him. He probably got really angry when she kept resisting, and showing her affections to other men. So he wrote this song out of spite, purposely being an asshole about it, and sort of describing what pushed her away. And then in "The World Has Turned..." it's about the aftermath of that story, and how he felt. I had a very similar relationship recently where I felt similar. Even did and thought some crazy things out of frustration. But I still believe that we both deserved more from the girl, then it wouldn't have made us so crazy. I can handle a relationship not working out, I can't handle a relationship that the girl puts no effort into it, even though she "acts" just as into you in the beginning. I think maybe River's feels the same way. Either way I think River's is well aware of how crazy this song makes him seem (if it's even really about him), but he wanted to express that angst he felt so I think he exaggerated it a bit.

General Comment:This song might just be one of my favorite songs ever because it's speaks right into my heart. The following text describes how i felt when i was togheter with my ex girlfriend and every guy tried to impress here and get a bite of here. I was constatly afraid of her leaving me which she did. I'm basically afaird of losing my loved one.

I want a girl who will laugh for no one else
When I'm away she puts her makeup on the shelf
When I'm away she never leaves the house
I want a girl who laughs for no one else

My Interpretation:I think the song is trying to describe the events that happen prior to a couple breaking up.

For a some break-ups, the event that makes one side give up can seem minor. Seeing your partner laughing at something someone said may seem like a petty reason for breaking up, but there can be a lot of history behind it. The relationship may already be on the decline, and it took seeing that to have the guy realize it.

A laugh, a certain smile, a certain movement can serve as a reminder of many memories from the time spent together. Its a reminder of the many intimate moments spent together, the things that made you fall in love.

The song is incredibly raw. It really reminds me of how I used to feel when I was way younger. It didn't result it our break-up, but boys can be really possessive.

Song Meaning:He doesn't literally want a girl that "laughs for no one else/ never leaves the house etc." He's making a commentary on jealousy- it's an irrational emotion that creates unrealistic desires. You want a girl that doesn't associate with anyone else; you want her all to yourself. Describing this "ideal" girl is Rivers's way of pointing out that she simply doesn't exist. There's always gonna be other people in your girl's life and that's just the way it is.

    General Comment:"My girl's got a big mouth
With which she blabbers a lot
    She laughs at most everything
    Whether it's funny or not"

hes saying that she flirts with other guys.

    "And if you see her
    Tell her it's over now"

hes fed up with her flirtiness.

"I want a girl who will laugh for no one else
When I'm away she puts her makeup on the shelf
When I'm away she never leaves the house
I want a girl who laughs for no one else"

hes saying that he wants to be the only guy she pays attention to.

    "My girl's got eyeballs
In the back of her head
    She looks around and around
You know it makes me sad to see her like that"

i think this is another metaphor for saying that she cant keep her eyes to herself, and theyre always wondering to "the back of her head" cuz shes always talking to, flirting with, and checking out other guys. and it makes him "sad to see her like that".

General Comment:I think every guy knows the depressing feeling of seeing the girl he likes give other guys the exact same treatment she gives him, whether its laughing at jokes, compliments, trying to impress, or just being really flirtatious in general. And we can sit here and argue about if the song's about jealousy, hubris, control issues, trust, insecurity, or whatever, but if we all know the feeling deep down, does it really matter?

General Comment:okay I'm not done....I wanted to get more into this part:

"My girl's got a big mouth
With which she blabbers a lot
    She laughs at most everything
    Whether it's funny or not
    And if you see her
    Tell her it's over now"

I was wrong...this girl doesn't talk to EVERYONE. tHIS IS Talking about how she screws EVERYONE. tHAT's right....

I think this is Weezers (River) very politically correct and ambiguous way of saying so...let's analyze:

"My girl's got a big mouth
With which she blabbers a lot"

Talking about a mouth...hmmm a BIG one???? Which she blabbers alot...doesn't take much to know what is be talking about...for tha kids this is simply talkin about how she likes goin down on everyone....yeah that's right she has a BIG mouth...lol

    "She laughs at most everything
    Whether it's funny or not"

This is basically saying she'll do anything with a heartbeat...haha ..I need to find me one like that!!! lol

    "And if you see her
    Tell her it's over now"

I've explained this one already but the thing I want to point out is the "And if you see her" part. This actually ties in with the last verse of "please don't believe her ...etc. etc." YOU SEE he's been talkin to the same guy (his gf's new lover) the whole time...lol In the begining of the song he's saying yeah I know she's a whore so next time you see her tell her it's over and at the very end he's just warning if it happened to me it's goin' to happen to you.

There I'm done...sorry for the spelling and grammer but I hope you now see this song differently now.
