Lyrics for Pinch Me as interpreted by ojms

Pinch Me Lyrics
It's the perfect time of year
Somewhere far away from here
I feel fine enough I guess
Considering everything's a mess
There's a restaurant down the street
Where hungry people like to eat
I could walk, but I'll just drive
It's colder than it looks outside

It's like a dream you try to remember but it's gone, then you
Try to scream but it only comes out as a yawn when you
Try to see the world beyond your front door
Take your time cos the way I rhyme's gonna make you smile when you
Realize that a guy my size might take a while just to
Try to figure out what all this is for

It's the perfect time of day
To throw all your cares away
Put the sprinkler on the lawn
And run through with my gym shorts on
Take a drink right from the hose
And change into some dryer clothes
Climb the stairs up to my room
Sleep away the afternoon

It's like a dream you try to remember but it's gone, then you
Try to scream but it only comes out as a yawn when you
Try to see the world beyond your front door
Take your time cos the way I rhyme's gonna make you smile when you
Realize that a guy my size might take a while just to
Try to figure out what all this is for

Pinch me, pinch me
'Cause I'm still asleep
Please God, tell me
That I'm still asleep

On an evening such as this
It's hard to tell if I exist
Pack the car and leave this town
You'll notice that I'm not around
I could hide out under there
I just made you say underwear
I could leave but I'll just stay
All my stuff's here anyway

It's like a dream you try to remember but it's gone, then you
Try to scream but it only comes out as a yawn when you
Try to see the world beyond your front door
Take your time cos the way I rhyme's gonna make you smile when you
Realize that a guy my size might take a while just to
Try to figure out what all this is for

Try to figure out what all this is for
Try to see the world beyond your front door
Try to figure out what all this is for

I think the lyrics aren't bad, but they aren't suited to the song

i think this song has a good beat and the lyrics are pretty good, except for that the lyrics are serious and deep, then they put stupid stuff in, then they do it again.

If you ask me, this is one of there best songs. I really like the lyrics, there a bit deeper the usual, and the tune of the chorus is cool too.

He's right... this song does make me smile. It sounds really good when you're on a car trip and everyone's real quiet, and you're just about to go sit and eat. I can't explain it, it just feels good.

Stalefish has it right, this song is all about apathy, and the boring trivialities of suburban life. All the mundane events that occur, which you can't esape from, especially in the last verse ("On an evening such as this/It’s hard to tell if I exist").

I agree with Kaith, MKPunk, and themancky, this song is about when you don't feel anything at all. You feel as though you're not in control at all, but if you don't really care enough to change it. To me it's like screaming for help, or for something anything to change.

people don't like this song over other bnl songs because of the "simple lyrics" (There’s a restaurant down the street / Where hungry people like to eat). Have you ever been driving, get lost in thought, then suddenly be at your destination and not remember the drive? ever have a whole day like that? a week? a month of just autopiolet, get up do this, think "oh that's nice" but not feel it, not feel good or bad, not feel at all, just ovserve things, make mental notes, then go to sleep? i have. it is horrible. i think that's what the songs about. the lyrics are meant to be simple. in the verses, he's in this slump of mental numbness, then escapes in the choruses to say "please, tell me this isn't life. tell me this is a dream, please for the love of God tell me this isn't real!"
but you try to scream and it only comes out as a yawn

I love this song. Best BNL song there is. I love the way the guy is really down and wondering about his life, but he still has enough of a sense of humour to make jokes and want to do stupid things like run thru the sprinkler!

This song is about depression, or so they say in their Greatest Hits CD. The lyrics are explaining the type of depression where you don't want to do anything but sit around and wonder about your life. Ha, but I like the whole "I'll just go and crack some jokes and play some humor" attitude. That's totally me when I am down.

This song describes me very well, recently, anyway. I think I'll make it my temporary theme song.

at the concert i went to, when they got to "I just made you say underwear" some people in the front row tossed their underwear on the stage. then Ed picked one pair up and hung it off his guitar. is it just me, or is there always something being thrown at them (in a good way) during a concert?

this is another song that has a lot deeper meaning than people think. the song is about some guy who is uncertain what to do with his life. he thinks about leaving town, but realizes everything he knows is back home. all the references to stupid stuff, like the sprinkler and the underwear joke describe stuff he does to try to cure his boredom

has anyone else noticed the 'concert version'?

It’s the perfect time of day/
To throw all your cares away/
Put the sprinkler on the lawn/
And run through with no clothing on/
Take a drink right from the hose/
And change into my sister's clothes/
Climb the stairs up to my room/
Sleep away the afternoon
