    General Comment:It think this guy is a love masochist. When his girl is around, he can't stand her (''I'd rather die/Then try to keep her by my side'', ''You can kiss my love and I wish you're gone''). They eventually break up, and he realises that he loves her better now she's gone. ''NOW she's gone love burns inside me'', this means, when they were together, love didn't ''burn''. When she was his, he hated her, but he loves her now she doesn't belong to him anymore. But he doesn't want her back. He's quite passionate towards the idea of an unrequited love.

    General Comment:Obviously abouk a break up I think. Agree with the previous comments. Break up of a relationship that was once really good hence the lyrics in the first, third and first line of last verse "Never thought I'd leave you like the way I do, yeah". The third verse tho also contains negatives in an alternating pattern. Relationship was bad at the end perhaps. Still loves the girl hence the love burns inside me... part. But ultimately glad to be out of it.

    A thing that most people will experience I think! A break up where the relationship was bad and at the time you're glad to be out but afterwards you miss the person and wonder. Thinking about "the good times" etc.

    General Comment:Ahhhh, my breakup song. For me the protagonist of the song got betrayed his girlfriend. Get's dumped/Dumps her, and goes through the hell of an emotional breakup. The alternating love/hate lyrics of the third verse is the struggle of the protagonist reconcile his emotions.

    In the last verse, even as he states good riddance, the love still burns, and may burn forever.

    General Comment:why is it that even though this is a "song meanings" site, i'm finding that most people are giving comments on how good the band is or how much they like the song.... yeah yeah, we all like brmc, hell i can proudly and loudly say that u love them, but that's not what this comment box is about........ its for us to tell the world what the song MEANS to us............... as for LOVE BURNS.......... and it's meaning for me........ i can relate to the lyrics.... i'm a girl but if you simply change "she" to "he" its totally relevant...... besides this..... the song just sounds AMAZING, truely my favourte black rebel song ever. keep on keeping on boys!

    General Comment:I think it's about a destructive relationship:

    but no matter how much she hurt him he still loved her, and ironically, when she finally leaves him, he hurts even more, because he still oves her "love burns inside me"

    I think he knows their relationship was destructivem and knew it was best to get out, but he really didn't want to, and his pride: "Never thought I'd rather die
    Than try to keep her by my side"
