I cry every single time i hear this song! Its way to much for me to handle! Just the whole idea of being alone after they've been through so much together. The idea of any guy dumping a girl after she stood up for him and gave everything she had to him. And he leaves her...how can you not cry?

Yes, those are my poems. Yes, I know that they're shit. No, I won't stop writing them. Hey, that's my outlet that stops me from having all of those throughts. It has nothing to do with music. -_- man_on_tv, you misunderstood me. I didn't say that you were projecting it. The perfect body is all over the media. The pursue for the perfect body is always there. I've turned on the TV and seen five consecutive dieting commercials before. I was trying to point out that the biggest thing you seem to have about this band is that the lead singer is fat (which she isn't, by the way). I don't dislike fat people, you have to have variation in the world (I will admit that I got a guilty laugh out of your comment). I've heard of cultures who are disgusted by skinny bodies. So yes, some people like fat people.

Just to clarify, I am not trying to start any shit so please calm down. Can you treat it as a debate instead of a flat out argument please? And I don't expect you to believe me when I say that Amy Lee isn't fat. I don't think you're looking close enough but it's pretty clear that you don't like Evanescence so you won't really be able to see.

i think it's pretty explicit. she's sad that someone's left her. not literally but on an emotional level ("though you're still with me i've been alone all along
i've been alone all along"). what i find significant is the title "my immortal". she calls her significant other her "immortal", it almost elevates him to a god-like status. and it expresses huge irony: immortal means everlasting, yet this is about someone's who's left, who's quite the opposite of everlasting. i think this demonstrates beyond just amy's pain, but her cynicism and bitterness as well.

Normally song meaning is very important to me but im taking the easy route on this one and figure its just a simple lost love song. In this case the meaning of the song isnt important. The piano work, the anguish in her voice, the bueatiful clarity of her voice only matched by this womans increadiblely beautiful face. She could be speaking a language you didnt even know and people would still cry listening to this song,
