Lyrics for My Immortal as interpreted by cailin

My Immortal Lyrics
i'm so tired of being here
suppressed by all my childish fears
but if you have to leave
i wish that you would just leave
'cause your prescence still lingers here
and it won't leave me alone

these wounds won't seem to heal
this pain is just too real
there's just too much that time cannot erase

when you cried i'd wipe away all of your tears
when you'd scream i'd fight away all of your fears
i held your hand through all of these years
but you still have...all of me

you used to captivate me
by your resonating light
now i'm bound by the life you left behind
your face, it haunts
my once pleasant dreams
your voice, it's chased away
all the sanity in me

these wounds won't seem to heal
this pain is just too real
there's just too much that time cannot erase

when you cried i'd wipe away all of your tears
when you'd scream i'd fight away all of your fears
i held your hand through all of these years
but you still have all of me

i've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
but though you're still with me
i've been alone all along

when you cried i'd wipe away all of your tears
when you'd scream i'd fight away all of your fears
i held your hand through all of these years
but you still have...all of me
all of me
all of me
all...

I LOVE this song. I relate to it because it reminds me of me and someone I really really care a lot about. He doesn't care about me and he's always talking about wanting to leave, and I wish that he just would. I mean if you listen to that song.. you could pretty much just understand it all. It is a beautiful song and I love it!

man on tv, you're a fuckin' monster. How can you say something so heartless? You've obviously no idea what its like to lose someone close to you. It hurts. It hurts like you could never imagine, so fuck off you ignorant wretch. Your comment is obviously a reflection of your own life: pathetic, meaningless, and just down-right pitiful. Do the world a favor, and fuck off.

Now, as for the song. I really enjoy listening to my immortal. The music is so beautiful, and Amy's voice is so haunting and surreal. the first time i heard it, it was all i was listening to for like a week. Just a beautiful song.

Evanescence rocks. Amy Lee's voice is incredible. I never would have expected this combo to work because all you hear in most had rock nowadays is distortion and screaming. It reminds me of my first relationship,I had a hard time getting over it. Also for those of you who (like me) enjoy Evanescence, Please dont encourage the flamers. If you dont answer your better than they are, Unfortunatley I must also say, do as I Say not as I do. Man On Tv. Your a dick without a soul, also I hope you enjoy masturbating bacause youll never get a wife acting like that. For a fan of Queen(another awesome band) you think youd be a little openminded? I mean its ok to like Freddy Mercury, the gay lead singer who died of complications with AIDS, but heaven forbid we be a teenage mother, or another of the unpopular crowed. Do the world a favor, never open your mouth again, or else ill be tempted to kick your teeth in.

I believe this song is a song of loss. Maybe a spouse, or more likely a child. It's mysteriously captivating; it reflects so much life and emotion that words could not possibly do it the justice it deserves. Aimee's voice is perfectly matched to its style and lyrics.

hey thanks for the encourgement to masturbating more, it made my day. of course freddie was gay. i couldn't care less if he had aids or if he was a green monkey for that matter. all that needs to be laid out is that it's good music. this (evanescence) is a band made by Clear Channel. Shoved out there by the corporation and payed a bunch of money to play insturments they just learned yesterday. the reason queen was so good was because mainstream was actually good then. now, however, it (excuse my french) sucks big hairy horse dong. the people in led zeppelin and queen were so awesome because they knew how to play their shit well and didn't smoke screen the public (little kids that try to be cool by liking popular bands) into thinking they are a new generation of music, punk, and what not. the thing about me not having a soul might be try but hey, i eat babies for breakfeast so i already knew that.

Well, it's obviously a beautiful song. It seems to me it is about a death of someone very close. Because it specifically says, "Now i'm bound by the life you left behind", which could mean a number of things but bereavement seems to be the obvious one. And also 'Your presence still lingers here' which seems to mean the same thing. It doesn't specify who has died and who's loss it is, though. But it's a very beautiful song, and very dramatic at times too. Many people can relate and cry along to it, and i love to sing along with it. It'll always be a classic and probably Evanescence's most successful song. And of course Amy Lee's voice is beautiful!

Ok, I agree that this is a really beautiful song and as most people have already posted on this board I believe it is about death and losing a loved one.

However this is my interpretation of the song-
Call me a bit of an addict but I absolutely adore the televsion show Charmed and this song reminded me of one of the main story lines involving the end of the 5th series.
Ok, I'm not sure how many people who will be (hopefully) reading this watch Charmed or know anything about it but the part I am talking about is where Leo becomes and elder and has to leave Piper(his wife) and Wyatt (his son) behind on earth. He can no longer live a normal life on earth but he is still able to visit Piper and Leo and be a part of their lives. Him becoming an elder, however, means that he and Piper can no longer be a couple and have no choice but to divorce.

Ok, for anyone who is still with me, heres why the song reminds me of this storyline:
1) The title - Leo is immortal and the song would be seen from Piper's point of view and so he is her immortal.
2) 'But if you have to leave, I wish that you would just leave. 'Cause your prescene still lingers here and it won't leave me alone' - Leo can no longer be constantly with them on earth but he is still around. The fact that he is still a part of Piper's life but not her husband would probably make her feel that if he leaves for good she could at least try to get on with her life.
3)'But you still have, all of me' - Even though Leo had to leave, Piper probably still loves him despite the fact they have had to divorce.
4)'Now I'm bound by the life you left behind' - Leo left his son Wyatt behind and it is now up to Piper to raise and care for him and even though Leo is still around he is mainly her responsibility.
5)'I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone. But though you're still with me, I've been alone all along' - Piper would be trying to accpet that she can't have Leo back and even though he is still with her in some shape or other she is still ulitmately alone.

Lol, I'm new on these boards and I hope you don't think I'm too much of a Charmed freak, when the song was wrote it was probably nothing to do woth Charmed but it's just what it reminded me of and I thought I would share my opinion with everyone.

they sound exactly like linkin park with a fat girl singing, that is so surreal and beautiful. How the fuck is a fat girl's choir voice over cliched goth rock surreal or beautiful? this band is everything that is wrong with music. safe easy to swallow shit. wham was more goth and dangerous than evanescence.

I have always thought that this song is about an addict. It sounds like she is singing to her dead boyfriend who really put her through it b/c he was so strung out , but she still stood by him...then he up and died on her. SAD.

I don't give a damn what anybody says. This is a great song, and Evanescence's music is not bad. Besides, Amy Lee isn't fat, (I'm 5''11' and 70 pounds due to an intestinal problem, and if you can call her fat you can call me fat) she's beautiful. And her singing IS surreal. So there.

I kind of like fylosi's interpretation, though I never saw it that way. And to DangerDiabolik, Amy Lee is beautiful and there's nothing wrong with Linkin Park.
