I really honestly don't care how old this song is.
I will always love it; it is definitely on my top ten of favorite songs. It's just so amazingly beautiful.

absolute sadness:( i cry evertime i listen to it.. it makes you have a deeper appreciation of life and the the people that surround you..make the most of everyday and love those who are special to you and dont take things for granted!!! i love this band and Amy Lee's vocals are so angelic and she has a beauty that surrounds her and a touch of gothic also. great band that backs her up..ROCK ON GUYS...

Meh, I had always thought that the whole "you're gone, I'm alone" thing was more figurative than literal.

Ben Moody was the one who wrote this, right? I always thought that he had written it because he fell in love with a girl who was his best friend. But, she changed from who she was or began to see someone else, so even if she still has "all of me", he was "alone all along" because his love was one-sided.

i think this song is so beautiful,
i agree with michealdark that this could be about a child or brother that died, but this also did get me over my breakup so good call michealdark.

this is such a beautiful song, its peaceful and really emotional.

I never saw this as a break-up song I'm not sure how someone gets that out of the lyrics, but anyway.

I've always interpreted it as being about someone who has died but who's spirit continues to roam the earth becuase she cannot let go of him even in death.

After I saw the video for the first time it confirmed my interpretation.

Amy-white dress, wandering around outside unnoticed by the children playing in the courtyard.

Ben-sitting sadly by the piano playing a few cords thinking about the one who is gone. When is is walking outside he looks up to the sky as if looking to heaven.

Seems she is the spirit singing about the man she left behind but can't let go of. Matches my interpretation pretty well.

I heard bits and pieces from other people that this song is about a suicide attempt after the death of a loved one. Not sure how true that is but the facts fit with the lyrics.

i love this song its so beautiful..it reminds me of how i was always there for this dude through everything for him in his life willing to do anything for him, but he just cheated and broke my heart! and it seems like he just won't leave my heart or my head, he seems to have come back and won't leave! that i feel like nothing can ever erase wat he did, but i'll always love him. ..beautiful song tho, i love it

This song is about the death of a loved one, and how she is trying to forget him. It talks about how he haunts her dreams and how she's trying to move on now that he's gone but is unable to because he meant so much to her.
