Lyrics for My Immortal as interpreted by cailin

My Immortal Lyrics
i'm so tired of being here
suppressed by all my childish fears
but if you have to leave
i wish that you would just leave
'cause your prescence still lingers here
and it won't leave me alone

these wounds won't seem to heal
this pain is just too real
there's just too much that time cannot erase

when you cried i'd wipe away all of your tears
when you'd scream i'd fight away all of your fears
i held your hand through all of these years
but you still have...all of me

you used to captivate me
by your resonating light
now i'm bound by the life you left behind
your face, it haunts
my once pleasant dreams
your voice, it's chased away
all the sanity in me

these wounds won't seem to heal
this pain is just too real
there's just too much that time cannot erase

when you cried i'd wipe away all of your tears
when you'd scream i'd fight away all of your fears
i held your hand through all of these years
but you still have all of me

i've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
but though you're still with me
i've been alone all along

when you cried i'd wipe away all of your tears
when you'd scream i'd fight away all of your fears
i held your hand through all of these years
but you still have...all of me
all of me
all of me
all...

I think Evanescencechic4eva is right, and every time I hear this (beautifull) song, I think of my ex-boyfriend. Not that he died but once we were listening to this song and he kissed me and it was so romantic and every time when I hear this song I almost start to cry 'cause then I remember al those sweet things he used to say to me and how much I loved him and I kinda miss him then and blah blah blah I'll just shut up, Neway evanescence is one of my favourite bands (Good Charlotte rox 2) and I truly truly love this song, and I agree with watchmedisappear: even though it almost makes me cry, I listen to it every day, just because it's a lovely song and Amy has a beautifull voice, by the way you guys gotta hear 'Going Under' and 'Taking Over Me' ==> Just like all of their songs, these ones RULE

I cry everytime i hear this song. Amy's voice is truely amazing, and the words are so meaningful. I could listen to this song again and again and not get tired of it. It's a song that i think a lot of people may be able to realte to, about hurt and losing someone close to you.

I agree with you all, this song is amazing. It shows how much it hurts to not be able to be with the one you love so much. Even after you've shared all of these memories "tears and screams". It makes me so sad but it's so good. Amy's voice is fantastic, I wish I could sing like that. Evanescence bring a whole new variety to music :)

I heard this song for the first time yesterday. And I have been listening to it ever since. It makes me cry every time.
This song is so obviously about the grief and pain of losing someone, and because life and friendships can be here one day and gone the next it's something we can all relate to.
I'm going through rocky times with my boyfriend, and When I heard this song I thought about him. He's still my boyfriend, but I feel so alone right now.
This song also reminds me of my dad who died a few years ago. It's amazing how even after years the pain is still so defined.
Turning on this song and just crying is such a release for me.

I love the desperation and emotion in Amy's voice. I like that the words actually MEAN something. It's deep and haunting. Evanescence has definitely become one of my favourite bands.

I agree with kellymac, I see as this person facing off a ghost. Not an actual aparition per se, but the ghost of a loved one lost. This person is coming to grips with the pain of losing someone and can't help but put a little blame in that lost one because wherever the person is, she experiences the painful memories and dreams.

The emotion is so wonderful in this song. This to me is the powerful line in the song:
"i've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
but though you're still with me
i've been alone all along"
Because the person is trying so hard to come to grips and it is such torture because she experiences the worst of both worlds. Not only does the person feel the pain of those wonderful memories that haunt her, but she also realizes she is alone. Like a glass barrier is between the two lovers and they can see each other, but can never experience the fullness of their love. God, life's not fair sometimes.

Once against Amy Lee and Ben Moody have a way of making you feel something you haven't though about before, with their twist on what its like to be immortal. That a person passed on makes such an impact on the other person's life, that they suffer for it. Usually immortality is seens as something very positive.

But I believe this song tries in a way to be positive. I'm not saying it's bad. For it talks about the pain everyone must endure in losing someone. The risk we all take for love. But, I do wish for this (and when this happens I will probably swallow my words), because it will mean I've met someone who truly defined me. So much, they live on inside of me.

I cant stop playing this song loud loud loud and with candles and totally losing myself in it. Its relevance to my life is taking my breath away, making me sad and relieving me at the same time. if you've ever loved a narcissist, you will relate to this song. Im addicted to the beauty, the pain of the song. Its so delicate, it makes me weep and introspective.

If some of you guys are listening to the version from "Origin" off of Kazaa or something, do yourself a HUGE favor and get the one from "Fallen" as well, it's remade. Lyrics and are all the same, just more instrumental stuff like violins in the back. The Origin version gave me goosebumps, the Fallen version gave me goosebumps, chills, and the single tear ;-)

Is it ok for a guy to love this song? Hope so, because I really do :-)

when i hear this song i always picture a mother singing it about her dying child, and the child has been sick for a long time and she knew he would die.
"when you cried i'd wipe away all of your tears
when you'd scream i'd fight away all of your fears
i held your hand through all of these years"
these lines just seem motherly to me, thats why i interpreted it the way i did.
"i've been alone all along" means to me that she's known that the child will die all his life or for a very long time, so she's had that haunting her time with him all along.

thanx Evanescencechic4eva for the explanation, i could figure it it was between jus death hence the title and the line "i've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone" but it also seemed like a badly ended relationship, but yeh its both. Its relevant to me, i can recognise...i love this song.

Definitely one of my favorite songs. I'm usually not into music like this, but I love this band. They're truly amazing, and I definitely don't think we'll see the end of Evanescence for a very long time.
