Lyrics for Imaginary as interpreted by cailin

Imaginary Lyrics
swallowed up in the sound of my screaming
cannot cease for the fear of silent nights
oh, how i long for the deep sleep dreaming
the goddess of imaginary light

in my field of paper flowers
and candy clouds of lullaby
i lie inside myself for hours
and watch my purple sky fly over me

i linger in the doorway
of alarmclock screaming monsters calling my name
let me stay...where the wind will whisper to me
where the raindrops as they're falling tell a story

if you need to leave the world you live in
lay your head down and stay awhile
though you may not remember dreaming
something waits for you to breathe again

in my field of paper flowers
and candy clouds of lullaby
i lie inside myself for hours
and watch my purple sky fly over me

Is this song about not wanting to wake up?

I saw them in Lafayette, Louisiana for Mardi Gras and they blew me away....This has to be my favorite band and song. It shouldn't take much longer before they are platinum.

Has everyone seen them except me?! I heard that they're planning a show in TN on April 19th. I think I'm going to go, but I've also heard that there may be an age limit. Has anyone else heard this rumor?

thanks, i wasnt sure, i mean the content of their songs seem to have a gospel feel, and in the song "bring me to life" theyre with the dude form 12 stones, and thats a Christian band, so it kept me wondering. But i looked them up online, and they were never in a Christian genre on biography pages. The only page i found that told me they were believers is something like Christiandiscs.com
Thanks

Hey me again. You guys are probably sick of my opinion from what I wrote the other night. But anyway... To me this song has a meaning of not wanting to face the world and wanting to lay in your own little word (as she says in the song) with things we know could never be real. Paper flowers, candy clouds, purple skies. I think it's a very nice song. Being lost inside yourself and escaping the every day life is actually very good for someone to do. If you stay in reality too long, you'll never get out alive. I think Amy is describing the feeling that most of us have but only a few of us will actually admit.

"if you need to leave the world you live in

This song is about a big dream. About being a difficult situation and trying to escape it and by doing so...you sleep it away...day by day...

Beautiful...

I agree that this is about dreaming, because liek "I lie inside myself for hours" could be interpreted as dreaming inside your mind and such.

Wow... I never knew they were Christian... most Christian rock scares me..

Evanesence Is not Christian
They publicly anounced that
some christian stores started stocking them
because of the name, they recalled all records
from christian stores. The Cofounder Made it clear during an interview with MTV and VH1 that they weren't christian by taking god name in vain several times. When they found they weredoing well on the christian rock charts they discussed removal with their producers. They consider them self gothic.

This is probably my favorite song on the album. It's definitely about dreaming and just getting lost in your own world, not worrying about other people's "reality".

Normally I am all about trying to explain what this song means, but many of you said it right, and a lot of it is pretty self-explanatory. An innerworld of innermost light surrounded by darkness. For in her world everything is sweet and divine.

But I can feel such deep sorrowful feelings just flow right out of me while I listen to this song. It's amazing what pains I've contained inside, bottling them up, just to see it all float away when listen to this beautiful song.

i think this song is just saying that her dreams are blissfull... the alarmclock and real world is where the real nightmare lies. I love the lyrics... we all feel like it sometimes.

evanescence is not a christian band!!! how many times must it be said for it to register with people!?!?

anyways, this is not the version on fallen, this is either the version off the evanescence ep or the 2002 demo.

great song, anyway, i like the fallen versiona little better.

this version rocks so much harder than the fallen version that it isn't even funny. The fallen version has the cool string tracks, but the piano track and the flow of lyrics is much, much better on this version. Despite Evanesence not being Christian, I have yet to catch the stuff where they take God's name in vain?
