I forgive your weakness
In light of all this bleakness
You were merely human
Destined to be ruined
Startled as your brevity
Turned to my longevity
I can't follow your steps
Can't go the places you went
I must forge my own path
Overcome and surpass
Startled as your brevity
Turned to my longevity
The more I see around me
The more it does to ground me
At peace with all my limits
Grateful for all I'm given
Startled as your brevity
Turned to my longevity
In light of all this bleakness
You were merely human
Destined to be ruined
Startled as your brevity
Turned to my longevity
I can't follow your steps
Can't go the places you went
I must forge my own path
Overcome and surpass
Startled as your brevity
Turned to my longevity
The more I see around me
The more it does to ground me
At peace with all my limits
Grateful for all I'm given
Startled as your brevity
Turned to my longevity

Interpretation 1) The narrator forgives a friend who has a flaw, perhaps has succumbed to the "bleakness" of life by suicide due to a "weakness" in his or her soul? The narrator is a similar, sensitive soul, but feels 'more than human' in order to overcome this same despair. The brief life of the friend represents a form of ‘blindness' that this person will not follow; "I won't follow you down".
