From the ice-age to the dole-age
There is but one concern
I have just discovered :

Some girls are bigger than others
Some girls are bigger than others
Some girl's mothers are bigger than
Other girl's mothers

Some girls are bigger than others
Some girls are bigger than others
Some girl's mothers are bigger than
Other girl's mothers

As Anthony said to Cleopatra
As he opened a crate of ale :

Oh, I say :
Some girls are bigger than others
Some girls are bigger than others
Some girl's mothers are bigger than
Other girl's mothers

Some girls are bigger than others
Some girls are bigger than others
Some girl's mothers are bigger than
Other girl's mothers

Send me the pillow...
The one that you dream on...
Send me the pillow...
The one that you dream on...
And I'll send you mine

General Comment:Much British male working class discussion centers on football and comparing girls breasts. If you are moderately sensitive or bright this process becomes very boring. Morrissey seems to capture his disdain perfectly singing the verses in a repetitive and dismissive fashion. In essence, throughout history all women have had different sized breasts so can we talk about something interesting now! The Sugarcubes – Mama has a similar meaning.

General Comment:For those unwilling to accept this is about breasts--or at least sexual shapes, the only time The Smiths performed it live, Morrissey added another verse at the end:

    "On the shop floor
    there's a calendar
    as obvious as snow
    as if we didn't know!"

General Comment:Not sure exactly what Morrissey's intention was, but I do note the irony of one of those stupid 'weight loss' ads appearing at the top of the page.

Some people aren't ok with some girls being bigger than others.

General Comment:I seem to remember that in interviews at the time, Morrissey was saying how ridiculous it was that he'd only just noticed how sexual women's bodies were. Make of that what you will.

My Interpretation:In the course of a man's life, especially nowadays, we go through a lot of different relationships. When I look back at the girls I've dated now, I realize that some girls mean more to me than other girls do- 'Some girls are bigger than others'. And this one girl especially it seems will always be bigger than the others. :( So to me this song isn't about the physical size of a woman but rather the size of the feelings and emotions that you have for them. And that is the genius of Morrissey..

My Interpretation:Boy grows into adulthood with lofty ideas about beauty, truth and the poetry weaved throughout the world. Then gets suddenly struck with how basic the adult world seems to operate - a straightforward Attractiveness Competition held between every woman on earth, one overseen and perpetuated by men. Morrissey, not specifying exactly what it is about women that varies in size, highlights how trivial the boy sees this 'one concern'. People are shaped differently, who cares?

And while he might mourn about it, he starts to discover that HE cares too... And he finds that both exciting and confusing.

My Interpretation:I don't quite agree with the fact that the song refers to female breasts. i believe that this song is about women's size in general. In a world were people are obsessed with physical traits, this song is trying to explain that people are different and that women should be what they are and not try to look like what society imposes.

"some girls are bigger than others": this is a fact, every woman is different.

"Some girls's mother's are bigger than other girls' mothers": this is another fact that states that physical appearance is, more than anything, a genetic factor. Some girls might be bigger thank others, but it's not specifically their fault. They are what they are because their mother(i.e. their genetic traits or social environment) are from different backgrounds as well. This is a way to say that we shouldn't judge others on any subject because we never know why they are the way they are.

And when it comes to the end of the song, I personally interpret it as a way to say that despite differences in physical apparences, woman long for love and appreciation and "i'll send you mine" is a wau to say that the singer will just give her his dreams of love and go from there based on something deeper than physical attraction: a dream.

General Comment:Lot of people here talk about the last verse, which is the key to this song I think, but not alone - it needs to be related to the whole text. All the "some girls are bigger than others..." (no matter if you take it literally or in a metaforical meaning) is a general statement, simple fact. It´s repeated many times in the song. And then comes the last verse "send me the pillow, that one you dream on..." which seems to be much more personal, different from the rest.
IMO it means that there are many girls (of different sizes), but only one among them is important to the singer.
