We care a lot about disasters, fires, floods and killer bees
We care a lot about the NASA shuttle falling in the sea
We care a lot about starvation and the food that Live Aid bought
We care a lot about disease, baby Rock, Hudson, rock, yeah!

We care a lot about the gamblers and the pushers and the geeks
We care a lot about the crack and smack and whack that hits the street
We care a lot about the welfare of all the boys and girls
We care a lot about you people cause we're out to save the world

YEAH!

And it's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it

We care a lot about the army navy air force and marines
We care a lot about the SF, NY and LAPD
We care a lot about you people, about your guns
about the wars you're fighting gee that looks like fun

We care a lot about the Garbage Pail Kids, they never lie
We care a lot about Transformers cause there's more than meets the eye

We care a lot about the little things, the bigger things we top
We care a lot about you people yeah you bet we care a lot,

YEAH!

Well, its a dirty job but someone's gotta do it
And it's a dirty song but someone's gotta sing it

General Comment:Really, no one has said this yet?

I don't think this is about celebrities at all, at least, not in the way you guys are thinking. This is about politicians who will say anything to secure votes. It's sarcasm from the politician's point of view. This verse here,

"We care a lot about the army navy air force and marines
We care a lot about the SF, NY and LAPD
We care a lot about you people, about your guns
about the wars you're fighting gee that looks like fun"

These are the exact platforms that political candidates run on. Military, police, American freedoms, and wars. Not sure where you'll all getting celebrities out of this.

General Comment:It's easy to be indifferent to the ways of the world, but that just leads to one living an empty life.

General Comment:Moseley is actually a great vocalist, but his style suited punk much better. Listen to the Crab Song by FNM from Introduce Yourself, its probably their best Moseley-Era song.

General Comment:Chuck Mosley definitely had a good voice for punk. But I think that was the problem, the rest of the band just wasn't punk, and it didn't really work with many songs other than this one.

Without a doubt my favorite genre in music is punk, but Mike Patton suited Faith No More so much better technically that there's just no comparing Mosley to him. I agree mostly with mykal77, when you hear Patton cover this song you realize how badly he outclassed Mosley even at his own game.

It's a pity Mike Patton changed so much over the years though. There were a couple of good tracks on Peeping Tom, but half the time he tries so hard to be strange that his music ends up lame, and it's annoying to listen to knowing how much talent he has. He's just gone way over the top but I guess that's his schtick now.

As for the meaning of this song, I think it's about people who get caught up in the news and go on a morality rampage to place themselves on a moral high ground, so they feel superiority & self worth.
Or alternatively, I think it could be about apathy in our society.
