I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is like a document to the teenage days of most of the people I know, as we mostly had a time in our lives when we were deeply unhappy with ourselves - wishing to be loved by someone, but our logic told us it was never gonna happen. And hating - not someone in particular, but perhaps the allmighty himself, for making our lives miserable.
Most of the people go through this stage unhurt, but the sensation, and the memories remain forever - strangely enough, we tend to remember these days as "nice days, good days" ... even though back then we would give anything to escape and get older... This song really has great lyrics, but you have to relate to it to get it completely. At least, that's how I feel about it - I have been listening to this song for almost 20 years now, it never fails to touch me deeply.
