Lyrics for Renegades Of Funk as interpreted by Michael

Renegades Of Funk Lyrics
No matter how hard you try, you can't stop us now
No matter how hard you try, you can't stop us now

We're the renegades of this atomic age
This atomic age of renegades
Renegades of this atomic age
This atomic age of renegades

Since the Prehistoric ages and the days of ancient Greece
Right down through the Middle Ages
Planet earth kept going through changes
And then no renaissance came, and times continued to change
Nothing stayed the same, but there were always renegades
Like Chief Sitting Bull, Tom Paine
Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcom X
They were renegades of their time and age
So many renegades

We're the renegades of funk
We're the renegades of funk
We're the renegades of funk
We're the renegades of funk

From a different solar system many many galaxies away
We are the force of another creation
A new musical revelation
And we're on this musical mission to help the others listen
And groove from land to land singin' electronic chants like
Zulu nation
Revelations
Destroy our nations
Destroy our nations
Destroy our nations
Destroy our nations
Destroy our nations
Destroy our nations

Now renegades are the people with their own philosophies
They change the course of history
Everyday people like you and me
We're the renegades we're the people
With our own philosophies
We change the course of history
Everyday people like you and me
C'mon
We're the renegades of funk
We're the renegades of funk
We're the renegades of funk
We're the renegades of funk

Poppin', sockin', rockin' puttin' a side of hip-hop
Because where we're goin' there ain't no stoppin'
Poppin', sockin', puttin' a side of hip-hop
Because where we're goin' there ain't no stoppin'
Poppin', sockin', rockin' puttin' a side of hip-hop
'Cause we're poppin', sockin', rockin' puttin' a side of hip-hop
Poppin', sockin', rockin' puttin' a side of hip-hop

We're the renegades of funk
We're the renegades of funk
We're the renegades of funk
We're the renegades of funk

We're teachers of the funk
And not of empty popping
We're blessed with the force and the sight of electronics
With the bass, and the treble the horns and our vocals
'Cause everytime I pop into the beat we get fresh

There was a time when our music
Was something called the Bay Street beat
People would gather from all around
To get down to the big sound
You had to be a renegade in those days
To take a man to the dance floor

Say jam sucker
Say jam sucker
Say groove sucker
Say groove sucker
Say dance sucker
Say dance sucker
Now move sucker
Now move sucker

We're the renegades of funk

Hello! the meaning is in the song

"Since the Prehistoric ages
and the days of ancient Greece
Right down through the Middle Ages
Planet earth kept going through changes
And then no renaissance came,
and times continued to change
Nothing stayed the same,
but there were always renegades
Like Chief Sitting Bull, Tom Paine

Sometimes I like to pretend they never made this CD. It's no wonder they broke up after releasing it. They are still the best band ever, but what were they thinking with this CD?

there's a reason it is a shitty album...
Nmaely Zack De LA Roca never wanted to make it. If you noteice that 'Renegades' is under a contract from Sony. Zack hates sony, just look at all the protesting he's done against them. What i heard was that Tim Commerford (Bass) signed a contract for the cd with sony without telling zack so they had to make the cd or get sued. They knew they were going to brake up while making the cd, because zack at this stage was real pissed at Commerford.

RENEGADES OF FUNK IS THE GOODBYE SONG! If you watch the clip its preety obvious, they show Malcom X etc. but they also show bands like the beastie boys, people who made breakthroughs, and at the end you see a wall with a sillhouette of a man with his fist in the air and in the middle it says ' Goodbye and the funk will never die..'

So stop pinning shit on 'renegades' because RATM didnt even want to do it.

Rage didn't even write this song. It was originally done by Afrika Bambaataa in 1986. All the songs on the Renegades CD were covers.

This whole ALBUM was a cover! Duh! (sorry if anyone pointed that out before me, I didn't bother to check). Street Fighting man was the Rolling Stones, How I could just kill a man was Cypress Hill etc...
Any words on Zack's replacement? Some say it's meant to be one of the Cypress Hill gang...

Personally i dont like this song. Rage is a AWESOME band, but this cd was a mistake, i would rather remember rage for CDS like Battle Of Los Angeles and Evil Empire HELL even No Shelter or Wake Up than this.. the only decent song... Ghost Of Tom Joad, it was a walk down memory lane... old skool rage even tho it was a cover.... and btw AUDIOSLAVE LIXX NUTS i hate cornell...Zack.. you live on in the lyrics of your past hits.. forever remembered, never forgotten Zack!! *fist in the air in the land of hypocracy guys!!!!

zack decided to leave before this album was produced......he just didnt go public until.....what was it september or november 2001. or was it 2000?

it was his tribute to all the "renegades" of musics history (hence the name "renegades") that simple

speaking of zack what ever happen to him?

i would believe that song was guerilla radio. im not sure though

To me this song is about the dissenters and so-called heretics of different eras and times. It's RAtM's tribute to them for having their own opinions and risking their lives for them.

How can all you people see this album as crap?! its actually fantastic! it is such a great move to cover rap and r 'n' b songs by using different techniques. remember, if a band uses the same techniques over and over again, it just gets pointless and boring (i.e queens of the stoneage couldn't release another album which was the same as songs for the deaf so they changed to a different more melow style). This song especially is great, the guitar riff is really catchy, along with i'm housin'.

This album is great, don't knock it.
