Lyrics for Acquiesce as interpreted by AAALEX1

Acquiesce Lyrics
I don't know what it is
That makes me feel alive
I don't know how to wake
The things that sleep inside
I only wanna see the light
That shines behind your eyes

I hope that I can say
The things I wish I'd said
To sing my soul to sleep
And take me back to bed
You want to be alone
When we could be alive instead

Because we need each other
We believe in one another
And I know we're going to uncover
What's sleepin' in our soul
Because we need each other
We believe in one another
(And) I know we're going to uncover
What's sleepin' in our soul
What's sleepin' in our soul

There are many things
That I would like to know
And there are many places
That I wish to go
But everything's depending
On the way the wind may blow
I don't know what it is
That makes me feel alive
I don't know how to wake
The things that sleep inside
I only wanna see the light
That shines behind your eyes

Because we need each other
We believe in one another
And I know we're going to uncover
What's sleepin' in our soul
Because we need each other
We believe in one another
(And) I know we're going to uncover
What's sleepin' in our soul
What's sleepin' in our soul

What's sleepin' in our soul
What's sleepin' in our soul
'Cause we believe
'Cause we believe
Yeah, we believe
'Cause we believe
'Cause we believe
'Cause we believe
Because we need
Because we need

As the only sane response to an insane world our friendship shall prosper as we manipulate real time events, deal with devious possessing emotions and always get an exciting adventure story or hook filled tune out of it that changes the world around us.

An entire generation connecting thru the "we need each other".

Epitomizing the hedonistic wanderlust of the mid 90's unlimited potential in the untapped possibilities of mad for it ruthless ambition;

this song captures the mood of the era in rather broad impressionistic strokes of helluva marshall stack distorted guitar, thunder-god drums and an untouchable aura of confidence via vague but important lyrics.

Noel went for trying to out compose the feeling of a high school graduation march in the ultimate taking on the world world acts of madness every time he picked up a custom painted union jacked guitar.

These were the days Oasis were inventing the future even if the ridiculousness of such a comment were a petty redundant hindsight point while listening to these magnum opus 90's british rock songs upon their first imported releases to america.

I had to go there in early summer 97 when the air was electric the spirit of Oasis, New Labour, The Verve and all the rest of what was most happening in massive blizzard like quantities. These guys weren't just a band...they were discussed like a dominating force of nature or much closer to the way the steelers are rooted for going into the playoff.
This was life and death!

I think I needed to go over just to see if it was something in the water that our Hootie And The Blowfish charts were lacking.

Why the fuck was this song not the A-Side over Some Might Say! God damn as a statement of intent this motherfucker has teeth and can not be outclassed.
The Confidence is mind blowingly inspirational still to this day...
wow!

I agree. I think Noel's voice compliments Liam's brilliantly. And it easily could have got to number 1 as an A-Side! But hey, I hope they keep writing B-Sides as good as this.

Many b-sides can be good enough to be a-sides but if they just through an album of good songs together it would surely have something missing, that perfect flow in an album which is essential in many cases.
E.g. If "Rock 'n' roll star" was put on the second track on "Definetley Maybe" the album may not flow through as well as it does.
Its all about syncronisation on some albums, otherwise i'm sure this song would have definetley made a great, brilliant, sensational a-side! (maybe).
Noel wanted Oasis to be a good b-side band, his idea was to lead up to a b-side collection like many of his favourite bands before e.g. The Smiths.

Today this song just makes me wonder.........At the moment i heard this song all i could wait for was more songs like it............and i have been very disappointed.
Sober up , get high, fall in love, fall out of love. Do whatever you have to do, but for Christ sake Noel write some strong tunes once again.

by the by. I love Ride, so i assumed A Bell would aid the band...surprised he hasn't.......any thoughts?

my god, by far one of their best creations ever. im still quite stumped as to how this didn make the a side. well as someone said earlier its hard to believe that one can write a b side song of such quality. liam's vocals perfected the song as they do on several occasions, and noels backin vocals are impeccable, spotless and neat, clean voice. cheers oasis.

TUNE!!!!!! from the Gallagher brothers.

Taken from "Some Might Say" Single (which iz also a TUNE!) & b-side album "The Masterplan", this is the 1st tune that Noel & Liam both sing on (instead on Noel just doing backing vocals on Liam sung songs). Wicked b-side, mayb should of been an a-side but it aint, dont matter 2 much becuz it's become a classic for being a great b-side. Song sounds like its about brothely love with both brothers singing on it but Noel denys that & says it about hiz favourite football club; Manchester City. Either way the tune ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

People i am wrong, thiz tune aint about Manchester City. It woz gonna b about Manchester City with the lyrics being "It's tough being a blue/When you come from where I do". Some reason it changed 2 the version we know now.

TUNE STILL FUCKIN ROCKS!!!!!!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I get chills just from hearing them sing lead vocals on the same track. Especially in the transition from the first chorus to the second verse, when Noel holds onto "soul" and it leads into Liam coming in with "there". I love it. This song is amazing!

This song is about seeing how many more times Oasis can use the phrase "There are many things
That I would like to" in a song.

Acquiesce-NOel claims to have written the songs lyrics on the way to the studio to record Some Might Say. THe train he was on was delayed and during this interruption he wrote parts of the song. THe tune began life as the song written about noels fav english football club-Manchester CIty. The live Because we need each other we believe in one another were originally Its tough being in blue when u come from where i do a reference to MC playing in a blue shirt. According to THE MASTerplans sleeve notes The song is about friendship in the widest sense and not, as often speculated, about the Gallagher brothers themselves.

If anyone has ever loved a person, be it a partner or a sibling, and that person questioned the foundation of your love towards them, or just never understood where you are coming from, point them to this song as it provides all the answers. One of the most beautiful love songs never heard. Classic Oasis.
