There's no one here today
Cause someone took the light away
There's nothing in my heart
Don't think I could even start to explain
I couldn't stand the pain of losing something so much a part of me
Though in reality you were hardly there in my heart

You were everything, everything
You were everything, everything

In these few hours
A breath of summertime has turn to winter rain
In such little time all my hope is gone
Will it ever be the same?
All I ever wanted was to see your face
See a little smile for my little one
And let you know, And let you know

You were everything, everything
You were everything, everything

Babe I did all I could
Just to give you life
I'd have done anything
Just to give you live
Life
Life
Life

Out there in the dark
Your little spirit is lost without a home
Oh, don't be afraid
I'm thinking of you
No you'll never be alone

Someday, somehow
When the time is right
Be an angel
Smile upon me
And give your life
To get your life

And give everything, everything
And give everything, everything

To give your life
To give your life
To give your life

And give everything
And give everything
And give everything
And give everything

General Comment:It's about miscarriage. She'd just lost a baby and wrote this; achingly sad song.

And it should be "may an angel smile upon me and give you life to give you life"

And the last lines are "I'd give everything, to give you life..."

My Interpretation:If anyone has evey been forcibly removed from family before then they would appreciate the sentiment of this song. There is more than just blood, sweat and tears within the theme here. The approach to the baby is as if it's dead. However, picture it being alive, taken for adoption. The mother is enduring the struggle herself and is also projecting into the future...
Out there in the dark your little spirit is lost without a home
Oh don't be afraid I'm thinking of you, no you'll never be alone
Someday, somehow, when the time is right
May an angel smile upon me and give you life
... So when the possibility of life comes back into the song I think there is a hope that the child will be rewarded by the love, joy and bonding that occurs during the bloody, sweaty, tearful process of childbirth is complete. It's like she was wishing for her child what she experienced before having lost them. This could apply in reverse, if an orphan considered the feelings of the parent, surely they would have wished for their parents another opportunity for creating life.

I don't know for sure so anyone please share with me their ideas. I never wanted children until recently. I actually haven't thought about the issues surrounding unplanned births, adoption, miscarriage, abortion or still births as sensitively until now, assuming that parents were too irresponsible for having unexpected pregnancies that sometimes created these problems. But I have been blessed with the opportunity of creating life and would equally want everybody to be able to experience that joy. Beyond that there can only be honest intentions, else judgement is inevitable.

General Comment:I had a miscarriage for some years ago, and when I heard this song for the first time, I cried all the night. It hit me right in the heart, and Louise had the right words on my feelings and broken heart. I always cry when i hear this song, because it reminds me of my unborn child, but someway, (this might sound odd) his spirit lives in this song.
