Lyrics for Sure, Baby Hold Back as interpreted by ScreamingInfidelity

Sure, Baby Hold Back Lyrics
Driving off through the downtown streets
I am all alone with my allergies
The night grows cold and I think of her
Like it helps at all when the music dies
And the song on the radio reminds me of her
And in my head, my mind goes back to a moment lost
A flashback scene from before the fall, before it was over too soon
Of upper arms, and auburn hair and the smell of her that filled the air
The car goes on, a bullet of thundering loss
And the song on the radio reminds me of her and it goes
Sugarpie honeybunch, I don’t want to lose you and I can’t help myself I love you
And nobody else will do

After a breakup, he can't get the girl out of his head.

I don't understand the line "Like it helps at all when the music dies" because then he goes on to sing about the song on the radio...is he talking about the music he makes? Like, after losing this girl, he feels like he can't write anymore?

i think he's talking about a song that reminds him of her. basically he's saying "like it helps when the music dies", in other words, the song will die/stop playing but the thoughts it stirs don't go away just because the song is over. that's my interpretation at least.

I can relate to this song a lot. It's just about breaking up with someone and hearing on the radio a song about having someone, and never wanting to lose them. And just that awful feeling of not wanting anyone but the one you lost. And the line where it says, "like it helps at all when the music dies"...I think that means he hears a song that reminds him of her but it's not like the thought of her goes away just because the song ends. Maybe I'm wrong though..just my interpretation.

I think this song is about having broken up with someone, and wanting them back, and taking a drive through town, with flashbacks of memories.

I believe the 'song on the radio' is 'Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch' by The Temptations, and is supposedly a song that the guy and the girl listened to together, which also reflects how he feels about her now.

what a sick song. i found the demo version of it and it just reminded what a sav max was even when he was in highschool. i wonder if this was a song he wrote in intention for the "her" to hear it. or else it coulda jus been something he came up w/. either way. good song.
