Satellites and, pair of mirrors and, and a man without a home
With a horse, and a rider, and a clever, cunning killer
Silent in error and vocal in spotlights
Lying always sucking on a bottle of, that sweet, indulgent fluid
Oh greed oh yes oh greed oh yes!
Oh greed oh yes
Yeah!
Yeah! (Left channel - 26 years in this stage)
Yeah!
Yeah!(you're 26 years in this stage)
Your friendship is a fog
That disappears when the wind redirects
You!
Yes you!

Father's expectations, soul soaked in, spit and urine
And you gotta make it where?
To a sanctuary that's a fragile American hell
An empty dream
A selfish, horrific vision
Passed on like the deadliest of viruses
Crushing you and your naive profession
Have no illusions boy
Vomit all ideals and serve
Sleep and wake and serve
And don't just think just wake and serve
Yeah!
Yeah! (Left channel - 26 years in this stage)
Yeah! (you're 26 years in this stage)
Yeah!
Your friendship is a fog
That disappears when the wind redirects
You! Interested in you, interested in you
Interested in you, interested in you...

To minorxxthreat who says quote "Nothing is keeping you in America". I hate that love it or leave it shit. Fuck you I have every right to hate this country and still stay and try to change it. By the way I guess nothing was keeping the poor in New Orleans during Katrina right? Idiot

"Your friendship is a fog That disappears when the wind redirects You interested in you.."

zack is screaming about how he feels betrayed by a president (or another political figure) who, while running for office, puts up a front pretending like s/he cares about your needs but really is just lying and will do anything to get you to punch that hole next to their name on the ballot. kinda like how snakecharmers manipulate snakes..

oh, come on minorxxthreat, that's a bunch of bull, first of all, if you buy into the "if you don't like america, just leave" you are missing the entire point of RATM's politics. Most people agree that the U.S. makes things very good for the people living in the U.S. When they set up dictatorships in Central America that cause the deaths of thousands of people in order that people can buy bannanas for a few cents cheeper it didn't hurt anybody in the U.S. too much. It hurt people not in the U.S.

The whole thing about "If you don't like it leave" doesn't make any sense because most of what the U.S. does wrong that people don't like about it is what they do to everybody else and leaving just makes you one of the everybody else that the U.S. likes to crap all over.

This song is actually about how we are expected to grow up and become businessmen and workers for the system, and that any "illusions", "ideals", should be left behind in order to "serve" for the country. It is about the troubles of trying to do something you life, when all of society wants you to do something else.

Thank you, Tbaby, for injecting some obviousness into the conversation. This song is about how we're expected to have our mind set on a career, dedicate ourselves to that career, and always be loyal. That's how it was back in our parents' time when they would spend 10 hours a day working at a factory for 30 years.

Likewise, the megacapitalist businesses want that same loyalty, but it's at a higher cost now. Women must also work to make means meet. Kids are thrown into a defunct educational system. All for the benefit of whom? It certainly isn't my wallet. I know that's for damn sure.

Extremely underrated song that I wish got more (or any at all) playing time.

The song was written in 96 when Zack was 26 years old. Just thought I'd point that out if it can be of help to anyone.

    yer right....

Personally I think this is the most creative Rage song ever recorded......The weird Tom riff......The middle part (guitar..."yeah"....Guitar....drum solo) and the refrain? It kicks ass.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
