His spit is worth more than her work
Pass the purse to the pugilists
He's a prizefighter
And he bought rings and he owns kin
And now he's swingin'
And now he's the champion
Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?
Revolver!
Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?
Revolver
A spotless domain
Hides festering hopes she's certain there's more
Pictures of fields without fences
A spotless domain
Hides festering hopes she's certain there's more
Pictures of fields without fences
Her body numbs as he approaches the door
As he approaches the door
As he approaches the door
As he approaches the door
As he approaches
Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?
Revolver!
Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?
Revolver!
Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?
Revolver!
Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?
Revolver!
Yeah!
Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?
Revolver!
Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?

Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?

A spotless domain
Hides festering hopes she's certain there's more
Pictures of fields without fences

As he approaches the door

"pass the purse to the pugilist" to me represents how in these sorts of male-dominated relationships where the woman is just the lowly, servant house wife who doesn't handle any of the finances as if it's the man's job.
"a spotless domain..." she keeps busy and channels here frustration and hides her slowly deteriorating mental state by keeping the house clean.
i really like what someone said referring to the title "revolver" as no just a gun, but to "revolve" and interpreting it as a "what goes around, comes around" sort of double entendre.
"His spit is worth more than her work
Pass tha purse to the pugilists
He's a prizefighter
He bought rings and he owns kin
And now he's swingin'
And now he's the champion"
This is describing how a husband beat up his wife.
"A spotless domain
Hides festering hopes she's certain thre's more
Pictures of fields without fences"
She is going mad.
"Her body numbs as he approaches the door"
She is about to kill her husband, she is getting tense.
"Hey revolver, don't mothers make
Good fathers ?
Revolver"
She's going mad, so she's talking to her revolver gun, saying that a mother (her) would make a good father, implying that her son will soon no longer have a father, and the fact that she says that to a gun strongly suggests that she is going to kill her husband.
It is about the terrible effects of domestic violence.
hey revolver don't mothers make good fathers?
it is interesting that the wife uses a revolver because: revolve: means 2 go around - the old saying - "what goes around comes around". the father had it coming.
Or its a pro-lesbian marriage song.
hmm I would say this is a straight forward song cuz its not really Zacks thing to use metaphores. A lot of the stuff he says is hard for some people who are hmm.... uneducated on social, political, and military events. I would say domestic abuse, and as Malcom X said "Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery" Just a thought.
P.S. Zack kicks ass! Audioslave sux.
