  General Comment:I always took this song to be about longing for a relationship and trying to encourage someone to just "Dive in" to it.
  
  I think hes got cynicism going on in the lines:
  
  Everyone is hollow - basically he sees a lot of other shallow people in happy relationships
  
  I'm real good at hating - here it's like he's commenting on how some people are in abusive relationships and if the target of the song wants to be abused(even though he would view it as ridiculous) he can do that too.
  
  and then he's got the lines:
  
  You can be the baby - I think he's saying he could do all the work and take care of the target of the song if that person would just accept him.
  
  You could be my hero - He's saying that he could be saved(made happy) by a relationship with this person.

  General Comment:I mostly agree with cleanruss. Kurt's singing is quite hard to understand anyway. And yea kurt often spoke about his songs meanings he said they mean nothing but i believe he lied. Every time he spoke with interviewers he was telling different stories. But listen to Dive's music how much angriness and all. I think music in every nirvana song is really important too. And I think this song is about something that really makes him angry. maybe it is has references with his childhood.

  General Comment:Im not big on Cobain/Nirvana history (just love all the songs) but everithing in this one tells me prison. Som said prostitution, well in jail theres loads of bitches and (long low ..) signals are passed 24/7. Guess it doesnt add up with Curt but then he had inspiration from somewhere?

  General Comment:For me, "Dive in me" equates to FILL ME UP...help me to feel good about me. Very clever song and a very good band.

  My Interpretation:I thought that 'pick me' might be a kind of reference to being picked first in sport, wanting to fit in in high school.

  General Comment:For me, this song is about introspection (dive in me)and therapy.
  For many of us, therapy is bullshit and just don´t help. Guess that´s what Kurt thought of it.

    I love the song but hate your comment. "For many of us, therapy is bullshit and just don't help." I have a human services minor and worked in two counseling facilities while in college, one dealing with abused women/children and one dealing with anorexia/bulimia. I have friends who have been in counseling, and I had two sessions as a 20'something to deal with daddy issues. I have YET to meet anyone who would agree with your statement, that's providing they WANTED counseling; were willing to WORK HARD in their treatment; and had made the decision they WOULD get better. Sorry, but I couldn't allow you post to stand as is; I wouldn't want others to NOT get counseling because of what you said. I'm sorry it didn't work for you (I really am), but I have a hunch it had more to do either with you (your motivation/attitude) AND/OR the counselor you chose to see. Not all are of high quality, unfortunately. Giving up on couseling often equates to giving up on yourself, and I assure you you DO deserve more...

  this song to me, is about kurt being at school when he was a kid. kurt often spoke about childhood and had such an anger towards it for being a so called "geek" or being poor, or being in a broken family.
  its only natural to have songs about that.
  he would probably say it has nothing to do with anything, but with kurt he seems to be a liar and a thief alot of times
