Lyrics for Dive as interpreted by AAALEX1

Dive Lyrics
Pick me, Pick me yeah
Let alone, I'll signal
I lease it, lease, yeah
Everyone is how old

Pick me, pick me yeah
Everyone is waiting
Pick me pick me yeah
You can leave 'em baby

hey
dive, dive, dive, dive in me
Dive in me

Kiss this, kiss that yeah
Let alone, I'll signal
I lease ah, lease, yeah
You can be my hero

Pick me, pick me yeah
Everyone is waiting
Hit me, hit me yeah
I broke you to hate him

Hey
Dive, dive, dive, dive in me
Dive in me
Dive in me

how has no one commented on this! it's one of my favourite nirvana songs and the way he sings it so raw, it's like he's bleeding it - it fucking rules! not sure what its about but i don't care because it kicks. anyways, that's what i think...

This song fucking rocks... definately my favorite. I thought I'd add some comments on it, since no one else can. I believe it too be about Kurt's Grade School/High school experiences. Pick me? I think he is reffering too being picked first... or last. Hit Me? Probably being picked on also or beaten up. But that's what it means too me

When I first heard this song I thought Kurt said "Die" instead of "Dive" and that seemed to make a lot more sense. Incesticide was a kinda odds-and-ends album. I personally think that Nirvana was trying to regain their "just another punk band" status. Incesticide has a fair few punk songs (molly's lips, son of a gun, etc) on it.

Actually, I think the line is "Left alone, I'll signal."

I would agree pretty much with what's been said so far, but I would add that there is a feeling of desperation to be wanted

of course the lyrics from the journals NEVER CHANGE!! its set in stone those are the EXACT LYRICS DONT FUCKIN FUCK WITH THE FUCKING JOURNAL!!!!! be realistic, lyrics could of changed but by listening to the song i do think he says "Left alone, I'll signal." but of course it cant BE!!!!! HE SAID IN HIS JOURNAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so egb are you suggesting that if i wrote in a journal "fat bitch wont let us" and then i became a huge rock star and decided to sing "rabbits like lettuce" instead would you still insist i said "fat bitch wont let us" ?

Ahhhh so many wrongly printed lyrics!! The second line is "let a long, low signal." The eighth line is "you can even pay them." He does not say "hey" (except in some live versions) he is actually screaming "pain." And before he says "you can be my hero" he says "at least, at ease, yeah." Also, it's "I'm real good at HATING" not "hitting."

Aneurysm is my favorite from Incesticide, but this is my second favorite. It's a great song. As far as the rest of Incesticide- not my style- but to each his own! Many Many other great Nirvana songs to choose from!

I love this song very heavy song. I like the version on Incesticide over WTLO. I don't know the meaning behind it i think its about being at a concert and meeting a girl or sumthing.

i love this song! its just such a great way to start off incesticde. i think its about liking someone and wanting them to like (or love) you back. i mean "pick me"- take them over the rest. and then "dive into me" ahh hello sex? or just falling "into" or in love with or in a relationship with or w/e.

The lyrics in "Journals" could have been an early version
it could have been lyrics from the newly released demo version

i totally agree, this is one of nirvana's best songs. i could be wrong, but i think this song may be about prostitution. i 'm almost sure that i'm right though, because on the boxset dvd he replaces "you can be my hero" with "i would even swallow". just something for you guys to think about...

When I started listening to this song I was certain it wasn't one of those superficial songs which has lyrics fot the sake of having them. I maybe wrong but this song to me is about sexual frustration - a strong desire to have sex and a forlorn feeling of not getting it. It also to me appears to espouse promiscuity.
"Pick me, Pick me yeah" this to me is a call to anyone - a feeling of craving wantig to be wanted to be "picked". I relates a lot to myself - a feeling of wanting to be picked to have the fact that you are not that ugly to be represented by being picked.
With the "let alone... whatever the line actually is!! is simply about a feeling of solitude
"I broke you to hate him" to me is raw envy. seeing a chick with a guy and thinking "why is she with that guy" and breaking her downor wanting to because you want her for yourself
The verse is sung in a tone that feels slightly withdrawn and frustrated but in the chorus breaks out with the "Dive, dive, dive in me" or "dive at me" as I interprit the lyrics. Which is a situation of being extremely horny - just wanting someone to jump on you and fuck your brains out
I totally agree with mfan4life anotu the reference to prostitution

Sounds to me, like a prostitute.
"Pick me, pick me"
"Dive, dive, dive, dive in me"
"Kiss this, kiss that"

I know it is a sexual song, Courtney stated it being her favourite NIRVANA song... But as Kurt said most of the time when people try and figure out his songs they are incorrect.

Kurt once wrote about being a hooker, and getting beaten; "Hit me, hit me yeah".

Could that be another possibility?

This song rocks, it’s so amazing. It’s one of nirvana’s most uplifting songs. The music reminds me of summertime, it just makes you wanna break free.
