Bulls on Parade Lyrics
Come wit it now
Come wit it now

The microphone explodes, shattering the molds
Either droppin hits like de la mode or get the fuck off the commode
With the sure shot, sure to make the bodies drop
Drop and don't copy yo, don't call this a co-opt
Terror rains drenchin', quenchin' the thirst of tha power dons
That five sided fist-a-gon
Tha rotten sore on the face of mother earth gets bigger
Tha triggers cold empty your purse

Rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells

Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes
Not need, just feed the war cannibal animal
I walk the corner to the rubble that used to be a library
Line up to the mind cemetery now
What we don't know keeps the contracts alive and movin'
They don't gotta burn the books they just remove 'em
While arms warehouses fill as quick as the cells
Rally round tha family
Pockets full of shells

Rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells

Bulls on parade

Come wit it now
Come wit it now

Bulls on parade
Bulls on parade
Bulls on parade
Bulls on parade
Bulls on parade

sick song
"bulls on parade" refers to how the government is like bulls and bulls on parade is impossible to stop and uncontrollable, so its saying our government is out of controle like bulls on parade

oh cool fact, bulls are color blind so they dont actually hate red

"the microphone explodes, shattering the molds
Ya eighter drop tha hits like de la o or get tha
Fuck off tha commode"

shattering the molds refering to RATM making a new sound in music, there not like the rest saying there all the same from the same mold. Drop the hits......or get the fuck off tha commode saying that you better drop some good hits or get the fuck out

"Wit tha sure shot, sure ta make tha
Bodies drop
Drop an don't copy yo, don't call this
A co-opt"

more about their new wave

"Terror rains drenchin', quenchin' tha thirst of
Tha power dons"

so much terror and its making the terrorists happy

"That five sided fist-a-gon"
the pentagon, and the pentagon is a fist saying its strong

"Tha rotten sore on the face of mother earth gets
Bigger"

terrorism is the rotton sore and its getting bigger

"Tha triggers cold empty ya purse"

too many people buying guns making them poor, or lots of robbing people at gun point

"They rally round tha family
With pockets full of shells"

i dunno but i think it meaning the government rallys around the family trying to make them happy and giving all this stuff but really they have gun sheels in their pocket and they are trying to hide it

"Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes
Not need, just feed tha war canibal animal"

third world contrys ( iraq preferably )spending money on guns and weapons when they should be spending money for food ad homes for their people, more weapons feeding the war canible

"I walk tha corner to tha rubble that used to be a
Library
Line up to tha mind cemetery"

so much destuction and censorship on books

"What we don't know keeps tha contracts alive an
Movin'" what the government isnt telling you keeps them going

"They don't gotta burn tha books they just remove 'em"

more sensorship on books

"While arms warehouses fill as quick as tha cells"

more guns imported and more people going to jail

and the rest you know

This is why I love rage so much. They identify an obvious problem and, say it's wrong.

..And they say it loud too!

And the fact that they've got one of the best guitarists, bassist, and vocalist alive doesn't exactly hurt, either.

Alright, I know what this song means, I just don't feel like typing it.

But I will say that this song is on my top three RATM songs of all time.

come with it now
the microphone explodes, shattering the molds
Ya eighter drop tha hits like de la o or get tha
Fuck off tha commode

Not quite a political statement, this is more of a rap-type intro.

Wit tha sure shot, sure ta make tha
Bodies drop
Drop an don't copy yo, don't call this
A co-opt

This is how it's gonna be. Bodies will fall, don't believe us if you want, but don't call us liars.

Terror rains drenchin', quenchin' tha thirst of
Tha power dons

Power dons. A Don is the title of Mob Boss with the Scicillians, and has been a position of authority in Feudal and later Italy. The power dons are lead government/military officials.

That five sided fist-a-gon

Pentagon. Headquarters to the military.

Tha rotten sore on the face of mother earth gets
Bigger

Could be either the constantly ongoing conflict in the middle east, or more to an ecological level. How our environment's fucked and what not.

Tha triggers cold empty ya purse

We havn't bombed anyone recently, give the government more money, the triggers are cold from disuse.

They rally round tha family
With pockets full of shells

First part could go back to the mobster mentallity of 'The Family' the family could just be the government heads, sticking together, etc..
Pocket full of shells refers to a more urbanized way of fighting. Kind of like in the middle eastern conflicts, the militant village people might not always have a clip, so you go into battle with a pocketfull of shells.
Or it could be just a warmongering person, so syked up he just goes out with his gun and a pocketfull of shells.
Or just a metaphor for war itself.

Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes
Not need, just feed tha war canibal animal

Government spending. 'Nuff said.

I walk tha corner to tha rubble that used to be a
Library
Line up to tha mind cemetery

Degeneration of conscious thought by the media. It wears away at our ability to think critically and for ourselves, and that's the government's whole point, to wear us down untill we're easily manipulated.

What we don't know keeps tha contracts alive an
Movin'

See above. The gov't can continue their agenda while we're lead unbound like sheep to the slaughter.

They don't gotta burn tha books they just remove 'em

Keep us stupid, censorship. Read Faranheit 451

While arms warehouses fill as quick as tha cells

Rally round tha family, pockets full of shells
Rally round tha family
With pockets full of shells

Bulls on parade

Military leaders and political officials parading around, all cockey and acting like they're the shit. A weight lifting competition.

For some reason when I hear this song, the book 1984 comes to mind. But I'm sure that has nothing to do with the real meaning of the song. But I think it might be about the Mexican Revolution. I think when he says "they don't have to burn the books, they just remove 'em" he's talking about how the Mexican gov't scrapped free public education (or something of that sort..I may be wrong).

But I really like "Terror rains drenchin', quenchin' tha thirst of Tha power dons; That five sided fist-a-gon". To me that means that the gov't who was once pushing wholesome, family values are now using war as the only way to settle disputes and contradicting themselves by urging everyone to help them out by going off to war (ultimately leaving their families and wholesome values behind).

It's as if the gov't, is in some way, greedy and manipulative..Great RAGE song; gotta say.

I'm probably completely off, but I'd really like to see the bands point of view on it. (even though they're broken up)

i think this song is about how all the world leaders just want to conquer one another so they have more for themselves. therefore, they steal money from they're people to buy weapons, and rally around each other acting as friends but ready to betray one another as soon as they get the opportunity.

also fits the title, "bulls on parade" crooked politicians doing what they want.

thats just what this song means to me but it will probably never be read because nobody reads the third page....

This song is about isolationalists (i.e. Ruby Ridge). What I loved about Rage is they are Republican like me and hated that bastard, Clinton.

"Bulls on Parade" referes to the corruption and overflow of power within government and how they use it at every turn to cover up the truth and control the masses. "Pocket full a shells" means that the government has wepons and ammo ready to go and are willing to use them if it will help them succed in there conquest. "They dont gotta burn the books they just remove em" says that the government doesnt want people to have ides of there own and to prevent them from getting influenced by authors and there books they are going to remove books from schools and other sources instead of burning them so it looks less corrupt in the eyes of the people.
"Mind Cemetary " is refering to the censorship of books,tv,magazines, and other sources witch states that free thinking is a dead art.

Hehe, I always visually imagined the "Bulls on parade" as a line of military tanks rumbling through a city street like they owned the place (ala the famous video of Tiananmen Square, where there is a line of tanks and one protester), showing off their power in the face of the weak, quite similar to the Government I guess.

Dude, go watch the '2000 Democratic National Convention' protest on the 'Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium' DVD. Rage hate the Democrats and Republicans equally as they are both right-wing. -_-

Rage Against the Machine is not anarchist, they are extremely left-wing. They don't like the democrats, but I would assume they hate republicans even more.

Also: about Saddam's regime, the US originally supported him! Rage don't think that he was better for the Iraqis than the US, but that it's our fault he was there in the first place, and also that the invasion wasn't really to help the Iraqi people but for profit. But anyway, this song is from '96! It isn't about the Iraq war!
