Bulls on Parade Lyrics
Come wit it now
Come wit it now

The microphone explodes, shattering the molds
Either droppin hits like de la mode or get the fuck off the commode
With the sure shot, sure to make the bodies drop
Drop and don't copy yo, don't call this a co-opt
Terror rains drenchin', quenchin' the thirst of tha power dons
That five sided fist-a-gon
Tha rotten sore on the face of mother earth gets bigger
Tha triggers cold empty your purse

Rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells

Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes
Not need, just feed the war cannibal animal
I walk the corner to the rubble that used to be a library
Line up to the mind cemetery now
What we don't know keeps the contracts alive and movin'
They don't gotta burn the books they just remove 'em
While arms warehouses fill as quick as the cells
Rally round tha family
Pockets full of shells

Rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells
They rally round the family
With a pocket full of shells

Bulls on parade

Come wit it now
Come wit it now

Bulls on parade
Bulls on parade
Bulls on parade
Bulls on parade
Bulls on parade

rage against the machines message is a very strong one. this country has changed and now is ruled by corporations. the power has been stripped away by the people by both the democrats and the republicans. we built these walls and we can tear it down.

stand up people, don't be submissive. Be yourself and live your life. do not let the government and corporations take away what you've worked so hard for.

the people are tired.

I believe that "I walk the corner to the rubble that used to be a library Line up to the mind cemetery now What we don't know keeps the contracts alive and movin' They don't gotta burn the books they just remove 'em" is coming from the same mindset as Farenheight 451 in the fact that if books are burned it can help prevent free thinking and society can be brainwashed to only believe what the government says. And more specifically, " They don't gotta burn the books they just remove 'em." refers to that fact that the government doesn't erase all history, but they simply manipulate what children are taught in school, so only the positive side is taught. Also cover up what could be considered controversial.

I dunno if this has already been said, but my interpretation of the title is thusly:
the whole song is about how the government and war industries are trying to feed wars and keep'em goin' an' all of that and how they sugarcoat it for us with propaganda, so that's exactly what the song title is. Bulls don't parade, they stampede, out of control, can't stop, not looking where they're going, totally impulsive and wild. The government and military are the bulls, running wild, but they make it look all good and honorable by saying "No, they're not stampeding, it's a parade" hence, "Bulls On Parade"
=)

how ever you want to interpret the rest of the meaning of war in this song is fine, but with out a doubt 'bulls on parade' is us and our government strutting our stuff and everyone else better get out of the way, picture a parade full of bulls throwing there big horned heads around and full strong chested mucsled shoulders powerfull front legs prancing through the parade, every one standing by waiting and watching better get out of the way lest you get gored like everyone else. some times im and egomaniac and do the same thing, sometimes not

I haven't read all of the other comments, so I don't know if anyone has said this before, but I like the way that Zack uses a megaphone type sound that makes it sound like he's in a war situation or something like that. Rage is awesome.

Respect,pmac52188!!! Agree with you. If Elephants are called bulls realy, the tittle of the song refers to Republicans. because the Elephant is the symbol of their party. I didn't know about Elephants so much :)

The title Bulls on Parade refers to the Elephant mascot of the Republican party. Male elephants are called bulls and females are called cows. But anyway, the song is about how the bulls(male republicans) claim to be family orriented but yet they send people off to war and other places where conflict is rampant therefore tearing apart the familes they supposedly rally around. Hence the line They rally around the family, with a pocket full of shells. Basically the song is about how hypocritical the Republican Party is.

To me this song has many different meanings. The chorus part seems like their are discussing the police in a way. Now I have full respect for the ideas of the Government and war to make money. But I also think that The chorus is about how police pretend to be nice. "family men" but will always be on guard to even back stab their own family. This idea could also work for the whole American popluation. Like the Ideas from the famous book 1984.
Which leads me to idea number 2.
The American people have become of this bull on parade. Showing its slef of. If you remember WWII the Nazi made their people believing they are number one. going into the homes and minds of their family. Saying support the war nothing else and the Nazis also burned the books to keep the people unaware of what was happening.

I was listing to this song while I was typing. So it was most likely very unclear... Im sure you understand..

Ah, already I see an error in the lyrics. In these lyrics it says "Either drop tha hits like de la mode" Where the actual lyrics go "Either drop tha hits like de la O". De la O Was an important figure for the Zapatistas, a group in Mexico that RATM fully supports, despite their controversial actions. The new Zapatistas, that is, the EZLN, not the Zaptistas from the Mexican Revolution.
