There's a hope in my head
That's been cut and bleed
Dry as your bloodshot eyes
And there's smoke in the air
And it's soon to clear
Revealing our demise
There are some who say
That it's a-okay
If it makes you feel all right
It's just way too bad
Now you're worse than sad
All locked up there in side

And I don't know how you feel
But I'll make you a deal
If you'll make it out alive
My shoulders and ears
Are all yours my dear
I Hope it comes as no surprise
You've been known to say
That you're a-okay
When you're feeling sick inside
I just want you to know
I got no place to go
Until the day you die

While you're waiting
Be thankful for your fingers
I'll be fading
With the colors of your pictures
'I'm not crying wolf,' you whisper,
'I'm really dead this time...
I'm really dead this time'

There's a hope in my head
That's been cut and bleed
Dry as your bloodshot eyes
And there's smoke in the air
And it's soon to clear
Revealing our demise
You've been known to say
That you're a-okay
When you're feeling dead inside
I just want you to know
I got no place to go
Until the day you die

While you're waiting,
Be thankful for your fingers,
I'll be fading
With the colors of your pictures
'I'm not crying wolf,' you whisper,
'I'm really dead this time...
I'm really dead this time'

They locked you up
They threw away the key
Sutsured your mouth shut
Murdered your family
Right before your eyes
What could you do?
Right before your eyes
They took it all form you

Your contemplating
You hanging from your ceiling
Can't help hating
You for having that feeling
I'm not joking when I tell you
I'd miss you all the time
I already miss you all the time

General Comment:yeah the song's proggresion is nearly identical to cooking wine but Its still a great song. As far as the fingers go I'm thinking it has to do with guitar.. I thought that was a bit obvious cuz alot of song writers play guitar and its a good way to pass time when life sucks.

General Comment:This song is pre' much 100% about drug abuse, i'm fair sure.

it refers to bloodshot eyes, smoke in the air, being "locked up inside" (depression + mental illness causd by drugs), "be thankful for your fingers" (which could be referring to the fact that cocaine melts your fingertips when you work it), and everything else is talking about Skiba's thoughts and feelings about the affected person.

sad song, but I <3 the trio!

General Comment:To me this song is about the death of someone close. I see it as the author is talking to his friend/relative who is dying. I'm probably wrong, but thats what I think of whenever I hear this song.

General Comment:what i really love about alkaline trio is that every song is up for interpretation.

no one song song follows one main theme,
each person can get something different from it.

    when i hear this song,
i think of someone in love with someone in a coma,
hoping and praying they'll make it.

    but that's just me

General Comment:I think a lot of this song revolves around someone who's abusing cocaine. There's a ton of references about someone craving "that feeling" and how they're 'dead without it' ... etc. May not be limited to cocaine but something to do with drug abuse.

General Comment:be thankful for your fingers...while people wait they usually play with their hands or twiddle their thumbs so while your waiting be thankful that you have something to keep you entertained

General Comment:this is actually a defunct hot water music song. i think its about a dying relationship, and the significant other is going thru tough times, but the "matt" will always be there for her. i think the girl committed suicide as well, because of the "cant help hating you for having that feeling" and "i already miss you all the time" either that, or the girl is considering suicide.

General Comment:This song, to me, rings of someone with problems of their own watching someone they love go through a terrible struggle, such as drugs, depression or an eating disorder, who wants to help (without really knowing how) but is also at the same time jealous of the person's determination to die/self destruct.
