Runny nose and runny yolk
Even if you have a cold still
You can cough on me again
I still haven't had my fulfill

In the someday what's that sound?

Broken heart and broken bones
Think about some capsules of horse pills
One more quirky cliched phrase
You're the one I wanna refill

In the someday what's that sound?

Most people don't realize
That two large pieces of coral,
Painted brown, and attached to his skull
With common wood screws can make a child look like a deer

General Comment:One of my worst misheard lyrics>
"Every Sunday, 'What's the hot song?'"
So I figured it was all about the music business.

General Comment:Kurt overdosed on heroin, but Courtney put the gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger after he was dead, because if it was ruled that he died of a drug overdose she'd get Francis taken away from her, but if it was suicide that wouldn't happen.

    Anyway.

Hilarious song, IMO. No one seems to get the joke.

General Comment:@devil dog.... im sorry but heroin stays in your body for 7 days so what they found is probably a whole week of heroin... not just a day... sorry guess they never told you that huh? he didnt shoot it in one day.. he probably had enough over a period of time to add up to over 3 times the limit... just think about that one... im a huge fan and i wish it was murder but sadly it was suicde im afraid... he had bipolar which 25% of people kill themselfs if they had it... he just couldnt deal with the fame and pressure anymore... he always said he didnt want to turn into what he had become... seriously i've gone through the omg he was murdered stage but truth is he wasnt... also to all the people who think courtney did it.... well what you dont know is courtney saved him from OD'in twice. so if she wanted to kill him why not just let him die and pretend she was never there?.. seriously its cool if you miss him and all.. i do too.. but fact is it was a clear suicide from a unhealthy man who just lost his pride

General Comment:The song was part of the "Beavis & Butthead Experience" and was initially going to be included on "In Utero" as the last track but was left off because Cobain felt there were too many "noise" songs on the album. "I Hate Myself & I Want To Die" was also the working album title for "In Utero" in the early stages of recording. I think the song is one of Nirvana's simplest and powerful songs. In the end the title was dark foreshadowing of Kurt Cobain's fate. He might have joked about suicide but deep down he was a trouble, brilliant, tortured, young man.

General Comment:Okay, in the second verse the lyric should be-

"Think about some capsules of horse pills"

The song really isn't about anything in particular. There are references to someone being sick. There's a quote from a "Deep Thoughts" skit from SNL. The chorus came from God knows where. And that's that.

Kurt threw lyrics together from various places and what fit together, he went with. Such is the case for the majority of Nirvana's songs. He said himself that there USUALLY is no meaning behind any of his songs. Although- some songs have deep, personal meaning. THIS song does not have any philosophical lesson to be learned.

Kurt was very sarcastic and had a deep fascination with biology. These overtones can be found throughout their entire catalogue.

Please people: enjoy his randomness and freedom. Don't overanalyze everything to the point that it becomes boring and childish. I don't think he would have wanted that.

Oh, to me this song is about three minutes long. Three minutes of great talent from all three musicians.

General Comment:To be honest I can't stand this "COURTNEY LOVE KILLED KURT OMGGGG!!!!!!" horseshit.
Bitching, staring riots and cyber bulling isn't going to change the fact that he's been dead for over 14 years, nor will it change the fact that nobody will really know what happened.
Do you really think that the man himself; Kurt Cobain would take a few angsty fangirls seriously?

Nonetheless, when I first heard this song I thought of depression due to physical illness.
