I always waste my time just wondering
What the next man thinks of me
I'll never do exactly what I want
And I'll sculpt my life for your acceptance

I always waste my time just wondering
What the next man thinks of me
I'll never do exactly what I want
And I'll sculpt my life for your acceptance

And I feel forgotten
Feel like rotting
(Do you feel the same?)
(Do you feel the same?)
Adolescence
Just can't make sense
(It's calling my name)
(It's calling my name)

[Chorus]
I take a look around
And all the things I've found
I call it blind hatred
If you'd stop a while
And maybe if you'd smile
You would realize that
We're all the same

It's just like our brain
When it goes insane
We feel the same pain

All my life I've seemed to have this need
I think at times it even turns to greed
We all want to join some family
We'll even sacrifice a moral changing

And I feel forgotten
Feel like rotting
(Do you feel the same?)
(Do you feel the same?)
Adolescence
Just can't make sense
(It's calling my name)
(It's calling my name)

[Chorus]

It's just like our brain
When it goes insane
We feel the same pain

[Chorus]

It's just like our brain
When it goes insane
We feel the same pain

General Comment:Great song. Could've been a Who song. All about worrying about what others think and trying to tell them to fuck themselves at the same time.

    General Comment:LoveloveLOVE this song.

The thing I love most about the 1,039/SOSH album is that you get to see GD's attitudes towards adolescence, and it's just amazing to listen to because it was so long ago.

It also rocks you can relate to it just under 20 years on.

General Comment:This song is about people who change themselves or act a certain way to be accepted by society and those around them. The intro and verses are from the point of view of the people who are conforming for society. The "I feel forgotten" part to the "We feel the same pain" is from Billie's perspective, where he's saying that he doesn't understand why people do this, it's killing him because people won't accept him for being himself, and he asks everyone why? He says that we're all the same, nothing else matters.

The blind hatred part means that the "society" won't accept you without even knowing who you are, if you don't do what they want you to, you have no chance with them, therefore they're making a "blind hatred".

General Comment:I think its worrying what people think of you. I really think the song is considering him changing, but deciding against it, since he realizes were all the same.

Good stuff, got to love early GD. Cant believe only 12 comments!

I can't beleive I know exactly what hes talking about, that feeling that what you have is never good enough, not because it isn't suffiecent, but becuase Its not how society percieves to be normal
I guess as you get older u realise those perfect familys are a little screwed up and have some dark dark secrets behind the cover they display. But social intimidation can be a ver very paralyisng and damaging influence on one, sculpt u're life into nothing for the acceptance of a bunch of wankers
All created by english derived societies
    That means america, england, australia
Always serve and look up to the elitre (scuplt you life for them) no matter what, just cause they're the elite
No wonder half eurpoean/hald american (bj's like a quarter italian) and the lead singer in my chemical romance is half italian, half scotish
Have troubles understanding bullshit western societys, and release such angst ridden songs
Greendays interpretation of this, without buying into the bullshit that can happen with fame is why they are still around!

General Comment:I think it's pretty selfexplaining. You want people to accept you but on the other hand you don't want to change who you are, so you kinda try to convince everybody to accept you for who you are.

General Comment:"When it apes insane" should be when it GOES insane

but anyway, i think this song is about thinking that maybe you should conform to the standards of society but realizing that that's crap, just be yourself
