Bowling for Soup suck. As for the song, not Green Day's best, or even in the top 10, but a decent song. BEtter than anything by those NFG of GC type boy bands.

Billie Joe himself said that he wrote this song after going through a friend's Cure collection and seeing the song "1,000 Hours." He then wrote this song. He also called it the sappiest song he'd ever worte, and I tend to agree with him.

The weird thing about 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is that almost all the songs on it are about girls who Billie Joe (thinks he is) completely in love with! It's sort of sweet and sort of funny. I prefer the wittier stuff to the sappiness too.

ANSWER: "I would say the song, 'A 1000 Hours' because not only was it not for a band to play or to play as a band, it's just the sappiest song about a girl to the point where it's like a bad John Hughes movie".

Minifin4BillieJoe, do you realize what Billie Joe's like in person? He's an asshole! Anyway, what's cool about the album 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is that this song was on it, and Mike (or Billie's brother i forget) was turning 39, and "he was really smooth." As for the Slappy bit, who knows?

And that's pretty cheesy xD

But I still like it....I don't love it, because for some reason I always laught at the fact that I just can't picture Billie "picking a flower for all the hours" that a girl has spent with him xD
