Looking back upon my life
And the places that I've been
Pictures, faces, girls I've loved
I try to remember when
Faded memories on the wall
Some names I have forgotten
But each one is a memory I
Look back on so often

[Chorus x2]
I look into the past
I want to make it last
I was there

Looking back what I have done
There's lots more life to live
At times I feel overwhelmed
I question what I can give
But I don't let it get me down
Or cause me too much sorrow
There's no doubt about who I am
I always have tomorrow

[Chorus x2]

Looking back upon my life
Faded memories on the wall
Looking now at who I am
I don't let it get me down

Looking back upon my life
And the places that I've been
Pictures, faces, girls I've loved
I try to remember when
But I don't let it get me down
Or cause me too much sorrow
There's no doubt about who I am
I always have tomorrow

[Chorus x2]

General Comment:This song reminds me a lot of Social Distortion's "Story of My Life" and Pearl Jam's "Small Town", lyric-wise. Not sure about the chronology of those three songs, but meaning-wise, they all go hand-in-hand for me.

General Comment:Funny how I would rock to this song at 17, but now entering my mid 30s it means so much more. Sad a bit, but optimistic too. To me, this is the one sappy GD song. That pop hit with the strings has nothing on this.

General Comment:Yeah. it's a good song, but I bet Al Sobrante was quite an asshole.

General Comment:Love this song, the lyrics are amazing. The entire band brings it home, this early work you can really see how polished they are even then

General Comment:I absolutly love this song...it reminds me of myself and my past. It's my favourite Green Day sng even though it's not written by them. I love it.

General Comment:This song is about moving on after looking back at what you've left behind and realizing you can only regret it and think about the future.

General Comment:definitely one of the best songs about looking back i have heard.

John Kiffmeyer/Al Sobrante played drums in the Ne'erdowells for awhile after green day. they became the hi-fives and he disappeared again.

General Comment:Billie writes 90%of the songs, with everything from resting to getting stoned to girls to being 16. Mike writes insults (Ha ha you're dead, scumbag, nobody likes you etc) Tre writes weirdness (DUI, Rat, d.l. slave etc). Sobrante/Kriftmeyer got one song. ONE. And he wrote the absolute perfect song. Sounds like a grad theme. IT RULES NO DOUBT!!!

General Comment:Don't focus on the past because you still have a life to led. You can't make the days last, just accept it and live. Don't worry life goes on.

General Comment:Tre recorded some stuff with Lookout and their producer dude reccomended him. Kiffmeyer had to go to college, I think. He wrote this about his time in the band, but it's easy for anyone who's starting a new chapter in their life to relate to. A lot like Good Riddance...
