I watched a video on youtube with Mike and he said that this was Billie's and Mikes first song written as a band. The interviewer asked is it was about a girl or a relationship. He said it has nothing to do with a relationship, he says "It's just about the best thing to do in town, the town we lived in was really boring, the song is just about doing stuff in a boring town, the best thing to do".

I always thought it was about a girl who Billie liked because of her status - Like, she's the best thing in town, and he's prepared to "Sit around and watch you pout" because of her high status, and he knows he won't get any better than her around town.

really self explanitory a girl billy likes, and acid this line explains the lsd part "Eerie colors and all I see are sounds" seeing sounds... yeah lsd. At a show in minnisota (i was there) it was the day billie's dad dieid too, any way as you know billy's wife is from here, and he told us a story about the 4th of july his wife and acid, so it might have something to do with that but i may be wrong

I think Billie Joe is the best song writer ever. No he doesn't write about love, he writes about mainly being rejected, and being alone, don't you read the lyrics?

This song is about a girl Billie thought was the best thing in town, as stated above.

i think this song is really good, but it isnt one of those ones that really stick in your head. but that doesnt matter, its the meaning, and i love it. way to go billie.
