calcutta streams from porchlife
where we opened up our party gifts
and you fell down the stairs
on purpose
and you drive to europe in the rain
your hair is done up (but no one's gonna see it)
maybe you should take me home

what could be so wonderful about this
what could be so wonderful?
the half light wakes you up the morning after
fall down with me
and roll around now

find out about the music
is the cd jammed or upside down
i'd really like to feel you with dinner
and we're sitting on a city bench
together in a tourist town
if a fasion ad were here you'd be in it

girl is cold but so is he
but he's still warm she's way to kind
when you walked in the morning after
looking good and you know it

i'm closing my eyes and i'm spinning
spin me away away
i don't know if i should stay but
what do i do when you say
it's okay (listen to me) she's insane

General Comment:i've always thought it was 'i'd really like to fill you with dinner' .. i don't know exactely what the song is about but i always thought that was a cute line, just the simple gesture of taking her out to dinner. great song but, the guitar work he does at the end of it in his live shows is amazing.

Memory:I got the "Australia" album shortly after it came out, and this was just one of those songs that grabbed me by the throat and had its way with me for a few months. Goddamn this is a great one.

General Comment:i think it is "feel you with dinner." i'm sorry this is about 6 years late as this is an old song, but this is his best. i love this song, and i to me it is about foolish romantic love. this is such an amazing song though, and i always tell people if they like howie from "collide" then they need to listen to this and really get to know his stuff.

General Comment:I really don't think the lyrics are "i'd really like to feel you with dinner" because 1.) that doesn't make sense and 2.) when he sings that line, it's very incomprehensible but there is definitely no hard sound of the d! But alas, the entire web has that lyric. I need to meet Howie to find out what it is.

General Comment:This song is about regretting the Morning After a night of romantic involvement. "You fell down the stairs on purpose" indicates that she thinks she pregnant and now is worried he will walk out on her.

General Comment:the vibe im gettin from this song is similar to ones im getting from a few of his others. its that sometimes girls get so caught up themselves and getting people to like them that they close themselves up and dont let anyone in. bleh. i hate how howie points out my flaws. i am this girl!

General Comment:I love Howie Day. he puts so much meaning into his lyrics and the way he sings is awesome. his whole CD is so inspiring to me, he really knows what's up, i wish i could jus go give him a big hug. although i'm not sure of the exact meaning, so many thoughts flow when i listen to this song. i love it so much.
