There's something cold and blank behind her smile
She's standing on an overpass in a miracle mile
'Cause you were from a perfect world
A world that threw me away today, today, today to run away

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
A pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world won't save her from herself

Her mouth was an empty cut
She was waiting to fall
She was bleeding like a Polaroid
That lost all her dolls
'Cause you were from a perfect world
A world that threw me away today, today, today, to run away

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
A pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world won't save her from herself

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
A pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world won't save her from herself

You were from a perfect world
A world that threw me away today

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
A pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world won't save her from herself

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
A pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world won't save her from herself

General Comment:Like all songs they have different meanings for different people. At first when I heard this song I though of someone in addiction that was numbing themselves from the world. Later, I though it could be someone being numbed through antidepressants, anti anxiety meds, etc. The people around her were trying to control her and make her numb because they didn't like who she really was, and ironically, the person that they made her.

General Comment:That is to say the main character was Omega, not Coma White. But Coma White was a prominent character on the album nonetheless.

General Comment:This song is pretty deep.

The main character is Coma White who, metaphorically speaking, represents perfection; and the main character of the album is constantly pursuing her. In the album, she is a woman who is broken after not only the death of her father but was also cast out by the people she wanted to belong with; and she did a lot of drugs and destroyed her own life. Because of where she was from (HOLY WOOD - inhabited by the beautiful people) drugs and self-satisfaction was all she knew.

My Opinion:Like some have said. I like to take it as if the girl has a mental health issue. Depression, bipolar, etc. Speaks to me more.

Song Meaning:This song is actually about how most americans, and other parts of the world, use things like TV, religion, and drugs to escape reality, and dont face it.

This is shown in most of the other mechanical animals songs.

In the song I Dont Like The Drugs, It means that He is being chased by drugs (he cant escape temptation of them). Also, one of the many themes of the album is "god is in the tv". This is shown in the beginning of the video, with him on a cross made of TVs. The whole video is pure art, really.

This song and video makes a very similar point. It shows that you cannot escape the world with "drugs", because you ultimately end up fuc*ing everything up, and life is now 10x worse.

    General Comment:Okay, here we go...

Marilyn Manson's music, mainly Holy Wood, Antichrist Superstar, and Mechanical Animals, is one big well-planned metaphor.

    1. Omega is the persona that "Adam," Marilyn Manson, took on when his transformation was complete. Omega means "the end." Omega is this hollow rock star, becoming a "mechanical animal" in the end.
    2. A mechanical animal being the people who depend on drugs, sex, TV, etc. for a fake happiness.
    3. Coma White is a fictional representation of a girl who is the image of perfection, MM's love interest. At the end of Mechanical Animals, he realizes that Coma White doesn't exist, what he had been striving for is a lie.
    4. Also take a look at Coma Black. It ties into the idea of Coma White as well.
