Doolin-Dalton/Desperado Reprise Lyrics
The queen of diamonds let you down,
She was just an empty fable The queen of hearts you say you never met Your twisted fate has found you out And it' fin'lly turned the tables Stole your dreams and paid you with regret Desperado (Is there gonna be anything left, is there gonna be anything?) You sealed your fate up a long time ago (Ain't it hard when you're all alone in the center ring?) Now there's no time left to borrow (Is there gonna be anything left?) Only stardust (Maybe tomorrow) Maybe tomorrow Maybe tomorrow Desperado Desperado Well the stage was set the sun was sinkin' low down As they came to town to face another showdown The lawmen cleared the people from the streets "All you blood -thirsty bystanders, will you try to find your seats?" Watch 'em duelin' Doolin-Dalton High or low ,it's all the same Easy money and faithless women You will never kill the pain Go down, Bill Doolin, don't you wonder why Sooner or later we all have to die? Sooner or later, that's a stone-cold fact, Four men ride out and only three ride back

Favorite part of that song is "Your twisted fate has found you out, and it's finally turned the tables---Stole your dreams and paid you with regret."
The Doolin-Dalton song also has some powerful lyrics- "Easy money, and faithless women-- You will never...kill the pain" and "Sooner or later we all have to die.....sooner or later, that's a stone cold fact"
I played this song over and over again at a time in my life when I was alone and borderline suicidal. I'm long since past that now, but I still remember playing this song alone in the desert with no company but the stars and the coyotes.

When a local boy was murdered by another boy at the end of 2003, I listened to this song alot. I didn't know him, but some of my friends did, and it was such a tragedy.
This song will always make me think of him.

I first heard the Desperado album on 12'' and I fell in love with this song. I just got the CD after over-listening to the vinyl and now it's never off my iTunes/iPod/BlackBerry.
The whole album tells the story of the Dalton gang and their partnership with Bill Doolin. Doolin Dalton is about when the Daltons and Doolin robbed a bank and Bill Dalton was shot dead. This is when Doolin is shot dead, he came to terms with human mortality ''sooner or later we all have to die''
Then the Desperado part is back to the story of 'Desperado' possibly Emmett Dalton who was the youngest of the gang and who I believe was the only one left for a long time. ''All alone in the center ring'' he has no family or friends left; they're all dead.
