Lyrics for Desperado as interpreted by Demau Senae

Desperado Lyrics
Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one
I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Can hurt you somehow
Don' you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of heats is always your best bet

Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get

Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no youger
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're loosin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, before it's too late

This song goes about a man who has a good life. He enjoys life and he does things wich not everybody does. He travels and he is seeing the world (ridinī fences) He can do everything because he is free and nobody tells him what to do.
These things are pleasing him and always did,but now he is 35 years old and if he does these things a few years more, these nice things can hurt him, because when he is older he will desire a life with a woman and maybe have some kids like many people have. He called it a "normal" life.
He tried to live a "normal" life and he did his best but it was not something for him,he did not have the freedom he used to had. A girl he loved let him down ect.
But he is a hard one and he wonīt give up,he never did.
Even today when he is 35 years old,he still likes his life. But the years are counting and if he is waiting much longer it will be too late to start a "normal"life.
The problem is that he can not find the right girl for himself in his opinion. He always chooses the wrong girls (the queen of diomonds) the queen of hearts he does not see. So he always wants the ones that he canīt get.
But if this nice life takes a few years longer he will feel the pain and he gets even more hunger to a "normal" life. He even wants to give up his good life for a "normal" life.
The problem is that other people only see the nice things of a free and single life, well thatīs just some people talking. And he will be prissond in his world because he is all allone (all his friends are allready settled)
But he must go further and he must fight, even in bad times when the sky wonīt snow and the sun donīt shine.
And because he is afraid to love he must open his heart,he must open the gate. He must find a girl to get a "normal" life. If he is waiting longer it may be too late.

The most beautifull sentence of this song is
"It may be raininī but there is a rainbow above you"
It is a sentence of hope.

Why do I know this all? Well this song could be written for me This song has everything I feel :)

I think most of you guys are hitting about right. I think it is about a guy who is afraid to fall in love because of what has happened to him in the past so they wont let anyone get at their heart. Then the person singing the song is telling them they need to open up, take a chance because they cant live their whole life in fear of getting hurt or they will ever find love

I think it's a very emotional song. It's not gender-specific I don't think.

I can relate to this song a lot. I've been burned badly by love so I can't trust just anyone.

I'm sure there's been a lot of people in my situation, - I was confused about whether to pursue a guy who was good-looking but didn't love me (The "Queen" of Diamonds), or to allow myself to fall for the guy who wasn't as hot, but who did love me (the "Queen" of Hearts).

It's about love and that it's okay to be loved, despite being "a hard one."

This song is definitely about substance abuse. Anyone who has dealt with substance abuse in the past, or knows a family member or loved one who has, would agree that the man in this song is trying to kick a drug or drinking habit. There are undertones in the song that have to do with love, but this is because the man in the song is pushing away the people he loves most because of his substance abuse. Obviously the song can be taken in different ways, but this makes complete sense to me.

Both elation and depression are powerful feelings that effect chemicals in the brain. The words of this song can be interpreted as substance abuse because love is an addiction in itself. I highly doubt that when it was written, substance abuse was in mind. But it's free for people to relate to it in their own ways. And looking up other people's meaning means seeing how others perceive it.

To me, the followin I see as a sign of depression from being dissatisified with life.

"You're loosin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?"

I see link betwen that and a line from our lady peace:
"You're happy you're in love
You need someone to hate"

Life becomes boring without extremes, and you need both the good and the bad. The desperdo person being talked about has lost both the highs and lows. Even though they may have gained a sense of freedom from nothing holding them down, it's also an imprisonment because there's nothing to ground them to this earth.

They are lost and they need someone to love them so they can be found, before it's too late...

Why does everyone assume that all songs are about drugs? This one obviously isn't.

It's about Desperado, which is a word often used to describe a cowboy who just won't give in. It's like a metaphor. Well, this guy just won't give up on getting the best and prettiest girl he can get. So this song is performed for him, telling him as a friend, go for heart not looks. You've got a girl waiting for you now, don't try for better.

I think it's about somebody who is in love with their friend who does not love them back or even appreciate them as a friend (all people should appreciate their friends, I mean really...). They have to watch their friend be in love with another person who is not interested in them. They are hurt because they want the friend to have those feelings for them and they know their friend would rather be with the other person than even hang out with them. They are also hurt at the same time because they have to be around their depressed friend. They are convinced that they could make their friend happy if he or she would only let them.

I think saying "everyone assumes that all songs are about drugs" is a gross generalization. Again, this song can be relate to substance abuse line for line. Doesn't mean that people can't take away whatever they want from it.

I love this song, its one of my favourite from the Eagles. I think its about a women who is afraid of falling in love. She lived a fairly fortunate life, "Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table", but doesn't want that, she always wants what she can't have. And her life has been spent searching for freedom and truth, but missing the true meaning of it. And she doesn't realize that there is freedom in being in love and having a companion, and these are the things she truly wants, even though she hides behind this image of being independent. And so because of her fear of letting herself go, she doesn't let people fall in love with her, and doesn't let people have a chance. So they turn away, and she traps herself in this prison of lonliness. So her inner child fades and she becomes a reflection of all the bad things in society, and the life in her escapes, and she finds herself all alone. The narrator is telling her to let go and be free, and although initally she might suffer from hurt and rejection, "Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you", there will be someone who will love her and accept her for who she is.

this song remindes me of my dad and his life like where it says "Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table But you only want the ones that you can't get " well he was brought in a wealthy home and he had all of these things offered to him that he didnt really want and he wanted something different..and the rest of it i think was wen he split up with my mum and he couldnt find someone to love him

i can totally see the drug/alcohol/substance abuse problem but idont think its the only thing being addressed. the desperado/cowboy is a single person who probably has someone who loves him but is still clinging to his single life. he doesn't want to settle down. so drugs could be part of what he would be leaving if he choose to grow up.

the metaphor plays to the cowboys and desperados who were out cattle driving or wutever, and they couldnt come back in to settle down because they loved the life of a desperado so much. see any john wayne movie for reference

I can relate to this song A LOT... It's never been hard for me to attract women for the whole one night stand thing, yet once I start getting close to a girl, I feel like I need to find something new. So for me, this song is talking about settling down and actually letting yourself be in a relationship with a girl instead of just loving her and leavin her.

I think this song is about a young man, who lives with a wealthy family, but somehow he is just unhappy. So he decided to escape of life and love (maybe he's unsure of the future of love). To escape from problems, so go out riding fences in his horses. although he's not poor but, somehow he has a lot of problems that have make him tough (You're a hard one). And somehow his inner voice advice him to go home (the singer). We can see that he enter the world of gambling (Queen of diamonds, queen of hearts, also an allusion to love vs money). and even though he has had luck at the end it doesn't get right well. He starts having ereal problems (pain, hunger, and fear of prision and of loosing freedom) and then it says that things won't get worse, nor better (sky won't snow, and sun won't shine) and he starts loosing all he gots. but at the end he get back and open the gate of life and love. He decided to go and search for the rainbow above the rain.

It could also be a song about somebody whose money is getting prison and not letting him love. but I like more the first interpretation

I think this is about a guy that loves the flashy beautifull gold digging women. He longs to land one but for whatever reason cant. He does have a woman that is a little more earthy that loves him but he is rejecting it because he so longs for the beauty. His desire for the flashy type of woman has left him alone.

Desperado means a highly reckless gambler, so the line about cards is a refrence to that.

wow for some reason, ever since i was a baby this song has made me sob my eyes out. it still does til this day.

well, basically, it sounds like a warning to someone who is reluctant to love to open up their heart and let love in before the opportunity is gone.

this song reminds me of a breakdown, you know? "don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy, she'll beat you if she's able" just the tone of that line is sadly sweet.
