Walk along the river, sweet lullaby, it just keeps on flowing,
It don't worry 'bout where it's going, no, no.
Don't fly, mister blue bird, I'm just walking down the road,
Early morning sunshine tell me all I need to know

[Chorus]
You're my blue sky, you're my sunny day.
Lord, you know it makes me high when you turn your love my way,
Turn your love my way, yeah.

Good old Sunday morning, bells are ringing everywhere.
Goin' to Carolina, it won't be long and I'll be there

[Chorus]

General Comment:Blue Sky is an incredible song. Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon GA was a place the band would go and eat mushrooms and get high. There is a little wall edging the gravestone area of one 'Elizabeth Jones Reed', that has beautiful tree shade and looks over the train tracks. It was Dickeys 'spot' where he would go chill out and write music. On a beautiful early spring day Dickey wrote Blue Sky there. It's real close to where Duane and Berry are laid and about 100 yards from the small statue of 'Litte Martha'

General Comment:Fabulous song! Duane's guitar solo just oozes out of his fingers. Love the harmony guitars just as the solo is drawing to an end - my favourite part of the song.

I began listening to some Derek Trucks before I heard much Allman Brothers stuff, but you can really hear their influence.

Note: If you listen closely at the very end, you can hear someone saying something (pretty inaudible) and then "try again".

General Comment:Some of the best guitar work in a song ever.

I live in rural South Florida, and there were few things I loved more than getting off of work on a humid, sunny afternoon, riding the backroads along the canals and cane fields with a rainstorm off in the distance, lighting one up and feeling good about the world, with this song on repeat. No matter how shitty a day of work would be, it wouldn't matter once I got in my truck and turned this song on.

General Comment:Anderson Council, the first solo is Duane while the second solo is Dickey. If you've listened to Fillmore East hundreds of times like I have, you instantly recongnize each of their styles!

To me, this song is all about Duane passing Dickey the torch. He literally does it in the middle of the song, and Dickey responds by finally equalling Duane's skill. Soon after this song was made, Duane would tragically die.

Blue Sky is definitely a top five studio song for the Brothers.. along with Dreams, Whipping Post, Melissa, and Jessica.

General Comment:This song is just a feel good reminder of how it feels to be in love - who doean't like a blue sky, a sunny day? It is a song of love but moreover the feeling of happiness and letting go of whatever it is that drags you down - if only momentarily.
