Everytime that I turn around
I just hear the same old thing
Beg to try and bring me back
To the place I couldn't keep
And I'm an asshole, storm the castle
Burn the bridges down to the ground
Take no prisoners, we're just visitors
We don't care about anything
Thats the way these modern dukes will go
It's every man here for himself
Every time that I turn around
I just see the same old crap
Trucks are trying to grease the wheels
So that they can get laid back
But I'm an asshole, storm the castle
Burn the bridges down to the ground
Take no prisoners, we're just visitors
We don't care about anything
That's the way these modern dukes will go
It's every man here for himself
I'm an asshole, storm the castle
Burn the bridges down to the ground
Take no prisoners, we're just visitors
We don't care about anything
I'm an asshole, storm the castle
Burn the bridges down to the ground
Take no prisoners, we're just visitors
We don't care about anything
That's the way these modern dukes will go
It's every man here for himself
I just hear the same old thing
Beg to try and bring me back
To the place I couldn't keep
And I'm an asshole, storm the castle

"Every time that I turn around, I just hear the same old thing
Jerks are trying to ride my back to the place I could be king
I'm an asshole, storm the castle
Burn the bridges down to the ground
Take no prisonders, we're just visitors
We don't care about anything
Every time that I turn around I hear the same old crap
??? are trying to grease the wheels so that they can get paid back
I'm an asshole, storm the castle
Burn the bridges down to the ground
Take no prisonders, we're just visitors
We don't care about anything
That's the way we modern dukes will live
It's every man here for himself"
etc,
can we move along to a place where our minds are suited best
and see whether we'll force our way to the top of all the rest
give me some room, let me help you, ask the captain, driving the boat
it's so easy, we can breathe free, strong together, tougher than all
I just hear the same old thing
Beg to try and bring me back
To the place I couldn't keep"
sounds to me like Rivers is reading all the shit about him on the net or being told to him from his fans, telling him to write more songs like the ones on Blue or Pinkerton. He's saying that they're "begging him to bring it back" To Pinkerton era, when he can't, because he's not feeling the way he did when he wrote that album "To the place I couldn't keep".
I think people should stop bitching about Green being no good. They say it like the band owes them something, when the band gave them so many good songs i.e. blue and pinkerton. Although I personally think maladroit has some pretty fucking sweet moments (Burnt Jamb). Awesome.
