I love this song, because i can relate to the "You can't fire me, I quit! *flips the bird*" mentality hahaha plus the opening guitar is a great opening to On the Border

What a great song, one of my favorites of the eagles. Just makes you feel good. They really know how to write lyrics that you can relate to...a rare gift for musicians. To put good music with it makes it that much better.

This is one of the greatest break-up songs of all times. Too many break-up songs are sad and melancholy, but the message of this song is to "feel strong" and get on with life. I like it because it's so positive and upbeat. The Eagles are a great band, but I'm afraid younger music lovers don't give them proper respect cause they only play on adult contemporary radio today. This song shows they can rock.

im 18 and i love this song to death!! lol, maybe not to death but it still kicks butt, as does all classic rock man!! Eagles, Boston, Zeppelin,Floyd, ACDC, Bob Segar, The Who, Guess Who, The Doors, etc. The best stuff ever!! whats the deal wit music now?? Rap crap that's what! lol. There norder, Im someone who REALLY appreciates thistype of music, and I thank my parents for that. Peace!

Great Song. You gotta love the synical, childish line of:
"And then you'll have to eat your lunch all by yourself"
Its as if its a teasing throwaway line.

And we never even know we have the key".......One of the best song lyrics EVER!!!! So many people many breakup with some one or get heartbroken and think the world is coming to an end....They are soo positive about the situation and that only WE have the power to make ourselves happy...It's not someone or something that can set us free, its ourselves!!!

The eagles rock my world...just started to get into them, and they have amazing harmonies, lyrics, and songwriting ability...I wish most of the music today could stop and realize what the "old rock" has to offer us: meaning!

Most amazing thing ever:
Walking out of high school, the day of graduation. iPod on at full volume, this song comes on. Three of my closest friends and I just start beltin' it out like there's no tomorrow, and wave goodbye to the principal and IB coordinator. Felt like I was on top of the world at that moment.
