Dignified in what she does when she sings
The smile that she brings to all of you unaware
Of what's to come
I said tell me what's to come

Green is the color of my envy
It's the color of fame
So I'm gonna write it down to scream it out
And I'm never gonna be the same again

Fear is the color you've all exposed
Now I gotta get up here
And prove the importance
Of my clothes of my pose I suppose again

Hard core superstar by far
You're the ultimate star
Do you want to be a superstar
Well that's what you are
You're gonna be a star
Do you want to be a superstar?

Clever in what she does
Competing for the attention
Of those people that you know
My whole life revolves around
Your absence until
I can't remember what I was or what I am
Who I know or what I know or where I go

Every moment was that moment
Every day was that day
Every second was that second
And I've lost myself again

Soon my face will be on every magazine
And then my voice will be on every frequency
Take my heart while you're at it why don't you
Sign me up to sell me out
I am my angel 'til death I do
I saw my first angel
And it was YOU!

General Comment:I think this is about hating fame and craving it at the same time. They envy the superstar, but feel like she's superficial and soulless. They want fame, but recognize all the problems that are coupled with it. I think the last lines are about how they went from seeing themselves as angels, their own role models, to some celebrity replacing that notion.

My Interpretation:Green = money "duh". Fear is the color you've all exposed = figure of speech, to show you the understanding of the end result of the industry. hints the album name.

The song has three personalities. 1. The music industry, speaking through the singer in an inner voice kind of way. 2. the Singer. 3. the Fans.

Most people cant even comprehend what the industry does.

    "Clever in what she does
    competing for the attention
Of those people that you know
My whole life revolves around your absence
    Until I can't remember
What I was, what I am,
What I know or where I go ---- spoken by the fan, with the end result of the industry on the fans, complete confusion. hints the next lines----

    Every moment was that moment
    Every day was that day
    Every second was that second
    And I've lost myself again
    Yes, I've lost myself again

song really creeps me out at the end. sang by both the singer and the fan.

I am my angel 'til death I do -- Became what everyone dreams. Corrupt feeling, of being superior.

I saw my first angel and it was you- Actually claiming that they are Superior, even though they're just people, the industry has won.

    What's to come?

    It was you...)

-Makes me really sad, but thats why i love this song.-

    Hope I helped.

    Love,
    Derek

General Comment:I don't like the lyrics, but I love the song.

I mean, the lyrics are good in general, but definitely not up to Tegan and Sara expectations.

&& even they said they were some of the worst lyrics they've ever written.

As always, the song is amazing, minus most of the words.
But the voices, the beats, and everything, make it one of my favorites.
