Confidence is a preference for the habitual voyeur
Of what is known as
(Parklife)
And morning soup can be avoided
If you take a route straight through what is known as
(Parklife)

John's got brewers droop he gets intimidated
By the dirty pigeons, they love a bit of him
(Parklife)
Who's that gut lord marching?
You should cut down on your parklife mate, get some exercise

All the people
So many people
They all go hand in hand
Hand in hand through their parklife
Know what I mean?

I get up when I want except on Wednesdays
When I get rudely awakened by the dustmen
(Parklife)
I put my trousers on, have a cup of tea
And I think about leaving the house
(Parklife)

I feed the pigeons I sometimes feed the sparrows too
It gives me a sense of enormous well-being
(Parklife)
And then I'm happy for the rest of the day safe in the knowledge
There will always be a bit of my heart devoted to it

All the people
So many people
And they all go hand in hand
Hand in hand through their parklife

Parklife
(Parklife)
Parklife
(Parklife)

It's got nothing to do with
Vorsprung durch technique you know
(Parklife)
And it's not about you joggers
Who go round and round and round
(Parklife)

All the people
So many people
And they all go hand in hand
Hand in hand through their parklife

All the people
So many people
And they all go hand in hand
Hand in hand through their parklife

General Comment:I think this song is encouraging us all to live together in harmony despite all of our differences, and the park represents the world all the people share.

General Comment:I think this song offers a view of the class differences in the UK, and it suggests the freedom to view people as merely that, not as construct of their status. And yet it has an undertone that implies that we are all deluded in our beliefs that we are all indeed free. No matter what, we all go hand in hand...

General Comment:It's about Hyde Park, when i went to see them there in July Damon said it was in that park where he got the inspiration for Parklife, just sitting watching the world go by. So it's not about living on the dole or any of that other stuff, just purely sitting on your own and taking a step back to watch everyone just live

General Comment:yeah i think it`s about opting out the london ratrace or maybe viewing london from a students perspective....."i get up when i want except on wednesdays when i get rudly awaken by the dust men"...or a tramp or some 1 on the dole.....it`s kind of a pisstakey song about people who you`ll find in london parks and a larghy look at london parks.....a lot of blurs songs are about opting out of the hum drum rat race i think and how the rat race can drive you nuts so to speak....parklife and more so the great escape touch on this!!!!!its london actor phil daniels doing vocals....blur loved the mod culture and phill played mixed up mod jimmy in quadrophenia!!!!im not sure weather damon was knocking cockneys or trying to be one!!!you never know with the middle class damon but i think to be fair he struggled to know who he was himself to be honest as with all sensative artists!!!

My Interpretation:Well, yeah, morning soup makes lot of sense when you take in consideration what's happening in the video at that lyric and what happens in American big cities traffic. A morning soup can be avoided (You have to rush for, and stop having a morning soup, instead having a faster breakfast) if you take a highly congested traffic way. In other words, the bad manners at driving and the awful fast pace everyone has gained makes you stop taking your morning soup.
    That's my take on it.
