Street's like a jungle
So call the police
Following the herd
Down to Greece
On holiday
Love in the 90's
Is paranoid
On sunny beaches
Take your chances looking for

[Chorus]
Girls who are boys
Who like boys to be girls
Who do boys like they're girls
Who do girls like they're boys
Always should be someone you really love

Avoiding all work
Because there's none available
Like battery thinkers
Count your thoughts on 1 2 3 4 5 fingers
Nothing is wasted
Only reproduced
Get nasty blisters
Du bist sehr schan
But we haven't been introduced

[Chorus]

General Comment:I think this song could be about Justine Frischmann, Albarn's ex. Justine had an androgynous look at those days and her boyfriend before Albarn was Brett Anderson and he's gay. But I don't know if Frischmann and Albarn was together when this song came out.

General Comment:i always thought 'du bist sehr schon' was 'did the session'...but we haven't been introduced.. funny I still think that's a better lyric! heard it in Venezuela when travelling and loved it. one club played it every night and my Venezuelan friend got me to translate into Spanish. Had no idea there was a German line in it. i suppose the reason i thought it was 'did the session' is the overall feeling of the song about unprotected random sexual encounters whilst being mangled. not to mention benefit cheats that still insist on their 2 weeks holiday in Greece. Poor Greece, lol.

General Comment:I really thought it was...

'you get nasty blisters, deep in session but we haven't been introduced'

to me that makes a great deal more sense too and if you watch Damon in the video when he sings this bit... or have I just totally miss heard! Lol

My Interpretation:I think the interesting thing is the crossing over boys and girls, and the linking in the chorus. So, logically:
Girls who are boys (so BOYS)
Who like boys to be girls (who like GIRLS)
Who do boys like they're girls (since the previous line is GIRLS, this comes out like having sex with GIRLS like they are GIRLS)
Who do girls like they're boys (since the last line is referencing the first line which is BOYS, this comes out BOYS like they are BOYS)

So, if my interpretation of all that crossing over is correct, then the chorus is talking about heterosexuality. Nothing so free or crazy.

General Comment:yeah im not sure weather damon is critisising the free love club 18 3o type lifestyle of youngsters in 9os or revelling in it,but i suppose he`s doin what all artists do and just telling it like it is...i allways look upon the whole parklife album as a tell about london life and how youngsters or every1 just wants to escape or look to the good things in life, bank holidays, holidays, sex drugs and rock and roll!!!!i think they was just commentating on the self obsorbed 9os
