This song is great reminds me of my sister just how i never showed love to her and how much she means to me and someday she might be the one to take me out of the mess i am in i promiesed to her any one fucks with ehre they fuck with the big guy lol... download the Zug Izland version of this song (you have to have the Z there) its just called CRY its a great cover.

i think the Thou shalt not kill and thou shalt not fly are bibical refrences as theese are vampires they are fallen from christ in the song he is talking about how this lonliness consumes them as vampires they cannot feel anything (like van helsing) and they look at there past life for some kind of sanctuary remembering the things that gave tgem happiness

I love this song, it reminds me of when I was little and The Lost Boys was one of my favorite movies, me and my best mate used to stick this song on and pretend we were little vampires.

That sounds like fun, I think I will do that again later...

i dont believe that song is about incest at all...its talking about vampires who have fallen and are forever doomed in this dark, miserable world that they can't get out of.

and they are calling to their sisters (and brothers i suppose) a.k.a. people of their kind..to come to them and join them so they wont be alone in this world that doesnt understand their pain

anyhooo....AWESOME song! such meaning and depth...Lost Boys is a hell of a movie. Corey Haim was adorable even though he not so cute anymore :)

While I see where goopuch can derive the songs meaning as incestual i feel that the song is about how the brother hears the sister crying and screaming for some unknown reason to him and he calls her too him and asks her to 'Unchain me' which i think means to unchain him from his ignorant knowledge of her problems and explain what and why she is feeling the way she does, and the 'love is with your brother' means he will always care for her and be there for her so she can confidently tell him what is wrong. I believe that 'My shangri-la, i cant forget, why you were mine, i need you now' means she was also his confidant and now the tables are turned and he needs someone, namely his sister, to listen to what is wrong with him.

It has nothing to do with incest first of all. The meaning is as clear as the movie. THe artist is speaking in first person. In the movie he says referrs to the tribe as a family and he continues to seduce and manipulate the girl in to joining the tribe . He cant be human again so he is trying to get her to become like him.

This song has special meaning to me. My older sister and I used to watch this movie all the time and we loved the song. She died 10 years ago but everytime I listen to it I think of her and though now I'm older than her i'll always be her little sister. Such a great song.

reading everyone's comments makes me wonder if alot of you people even listened to the song. you have to be a true artist to appreciate the meaning. alot of people look at a painting and see it for what it is, a picture on a canvas. an artist will look at the same painting and see something totally different. we wonder what the artist was trying to convey with every brushstroke. If you think of us all as brother and sister on this planet in the biblical sense as having all spawned form adam and eve. not incest as some of you think lol. the meaning of the song to me is:

this verse tells me that she will be seeing her last sunrise, her body will be forever changed into darkness but she is afraid of immortality. yet he has a craving for her that he cannot satisfy and it is screaming to him to take her.

He is lonlely as the lonliness of a vampire. as lesadt was in the vampire chronicles. the people that he once loved have now become his food and he has an uncontrollable urge to kill them. doomed to walk the earth in darkness and people do not understand his pain. yet again in this verse he speaks of the craving for her... the temptation in her veins and like a drug addict looking for a fix, he'll do whatever it takes to convince her that everything will be fine and the immortal life is so wonderful.

she means everything to him. not only will she satisfy his craving but he will have someone to spend eternity with. to "unchain" him from the lonliness and pain that he feels everyday.

the chorus is simplifying what the versus state. she is afraid and he is trying to convince her that everything will be ok. telling her to just give herself to him. the commandment references in the chorus tell you that vampires are fallen souls, punished by god, to forever walk the earth cold and alone in the solitude of night. they can never see the sunlight again or feel the warm touch of another human. they fly, steal and kill to survive. he wants his sister (in the biblical sense) to come "unchain" him from the lonliness and the hunger. to be with him forever...

this is what the song means to me. it has nothing to do with incest but i see how the ignorant and shallow minded would think so. like i said, you have to be an artist to truly appreciate movies and music because they are our modern works of art.
